Episode 6607, is the 6607th episode of the British soap opera EastEnders. It aired on BBC One on the 12th of December 2022 and was especially written for the funeral of long-term character Dot Cotton (June Brown) after Brown died on the 3rd of April 2022. The episode was specifically written to air for 35 minutes instead of the usual 30 minute slot to pay tribute to Brown appearing in the soap opera for 35 years.

Plot

The episode opens with a van appearing on Albert Square. The camera pans to number 25, the home of Dot Cotton. Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) is sitting at the table in the kitchen listening to music struggling to write Dot's eulogy. She listens to a recording of Dot's voice leaving a message for her late husband Jim. Dotty is in the lounge crying.

At the Slater's house, Martin Fowler (EastEnders) {James Bye) is explaining to Hope Fowler who Dot was and he and Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) reminisce about Dot and Bradley Branning.

Sonia listens to a tape about Dot's friendship with Ethel and is thoughtful. Dotty asks her how her eulogy is going and Sonia lies and says it is going well. Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) arrives and presents Sonia with flowers.

At Jack's house, Amy tells him and Denise that she doesn't want to go because people will be looking at her. Denise and Jack try to convince her otherwise and Jack tells her that when Ronnie died he didn't want to go to the funeral until Dot persuaded him otherwise. He tells Amy they're going to the church to say goodbye and he hugs them both.

Back at number 25, Lauren, Janine and Ricky are sitting in the kitchen when Jack arrives. He greets Lauren and asks Sonia about her eulogy.

Over at the cafe, Kathy, Rocky and Bobby are preparing sandwiches for the wake. Rocky comments that he has never met Dot but if she was any different he wouldn't be here. Bobby bumps into Kathy which annoys her. Rocky comforts her.

Back at number 25, Janine comments that Sonia is getting more like Dot and Ricky tells Lauren when Dot accidentally took some cannabis. Lauren shows Dotty some photos of Dot.

Over at the cafe, Kathy talks to Rocky about Donna and says that she didn't tell him the worst of this, that she was trouble for her and when she needed Kathy, she turned her back on her but Dot didn't. Rocky reassures her that everyone makes mistakes and that Dot was a very forgiving soul. He tells her to forgive herself.

At the launderette, Sonia is sitting when Martin enters. Martin tells her that people are starting to gather outside and she confesses to him that she is struggling to write the eulogy and Dot's death is reminding her of when Billie died. She cries and tells him that she can't imagine a world without Dot in it and she's not ready to let Dot go. Martin comforts and reassures her. Martin offers to ask Jack to do the eulogy but Sonia declines.

Outside, Dot's coffin is loaded into a horse and cart. Patrick comments to Kim that Dot wanted a traditional burial. Zack and Sharon meet Colin Russell (EastEnders) (Michael Cashman) and the funeral procession starts making its way out of Albert Square.

At the church, Jean tells Sonia and Stacey that Dot reminded her of a film star. Colin and Sharon bump into Mary who tells them that Lofty should be attending. Kathy spots Disa by the hearse and Disa tells her that she has a lot to thank Dot and Kathy for. The vicar asks Sonia if she's happy with the eulogy and assures her that it will be a fitting tribute. Outside the church, Ian watches the coffin go in before saying "goodbye Dot" with tears in his eyes. His phone rings and he leaves the funeral. Lofty arrives late telling Sharon that he got the wrong church. Sonia delivers her eulogy and says it makes her sad that she'll never hear her voice again. Sharon says that Dot was always there for her, Martin reminisces about when he was a child, Dot let him talk about his Dad. Disa and Mary remember when she looked after them. Denise comments that Dot was like The Queen and Kathy said that Dot was old East End. Lofty mentions that Dot loved a good laugh and Whitney says that's what she'll miss the most.

In the graveyard, Dot's coffin is lowered into the ground beside where her friend Ethel is buried.
