Trần Qúy Hai (born Bùi Chấn)(1913–1985) was a lieutenant-general in the People's Army of Vietnam active during the First Indochina War, and the Vietnam War.[1] He commanded Việt Cộng forces in Battle of Khe Sanh and Second Battle of Quảng Trị.[2][3]
Early years[edit]
Military career[edit]
During the first First Indochina War, Trần Quý Hai was assigned to the political commissar of Bình Trị Thiên front (later divided to B-4 and B-5 fronts) in 1949. Two years later, he was assigned to the commander cum political commissar of newly formed 325th Brigade.[3]
During the Vietnam War, Trần Quý Hai was promoted to Deputy Chief of the General Staff in 1955, major general in 1958, then Deputy Minister of Ministry of Defence of Vietnam in 1961. In 1972, he commanded B-5 (Quảng Trị) Front fighting the Second Battle of Quảng Trị.[3]
Award and legacy[edit]
In 2008, LG Trần Quý Hai was posthumously awarded the Gold Star Order.[1]
