Parameters[edit]

There should be a parameter to set the location of the sandbox. 76.66.196.229 (talk) 09:34, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added in this template's sandbox. Please check it out; see Template:Template test cases notice/testcases where I added test cases for what I thought you wanted. --Rogerb67 (talk) 23:38, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that looks good, perhaps implementation at some point? 76.66.201.179 (talk) 07:52, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Sorry for the delay, I was waiting for responses then the whole thing slipped my mind. --Rogerb67 (talk) 23:45, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Colon[edit]

A colon was added just before the Namespace code. In {{R from historic name}}, which has an embedded Category:Printworthy redirects, the testcases page had landed in the Printworthy redirects category, and stayed there even after the page was cleared. After insertion of the colon, that problem has gone away. There are several templates that call other categories, so this should be an improvement. – PIE ( CLIMAX )  18:31, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 24 June 2014[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to Template:Testcases notice, simply to get this out of the backlog. Fundamentally I discourage these types of RMs, as template names are only seen by editors these types of moves are busywork that benefit no one. Jenks24 (talk) 09:57, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Template test cases noticeTemplate:Template testcases page see below

Template applies to a page rather than a section, individual tests, etc. (Also, "testcase" / "testcases" seems to have more use than "test case" / "test cases".) Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 13:45, 3 July 2014 (UTC) Sardanaphalus (talk) 09:57, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Oppose proposed change, support a change to Template:Testcases notice. This could be used for module testcases or Wikipedia:WikiProject testcases, we shouldn't be restricting it to just templates as such. It is a page notice, and should retain the "notice" as it is not a page in-of-itself as the alternative would suggest. — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 19:19, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've struck out the original suggestion above, as making the template more generally applicable sounds a good idea. Wouldn't "notice", though, be less useful than "page", as I reckon very few (if any?) templates specify an entire page...? In other words, Template:Testcases page would be short for [Template:This is a testcases page], which is tantamount to [Template:"This is a testcases page" notice] – a contraction I think similar templates use...? Sardanaphalus (talk) 13:53, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Template:Testcases page is the current proposal, following this request's relisting on 3 July. Sardanaphalus (talk) 11:36, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mobile view link[edit]

I sometimes check my testcases in mobile view (from my desktop, I use the link on the very bottom of the wikipage, left of the two wiki icons). Could that link be added to this template? I think it is within its use. -DePiep (talk) 08:50, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@DePiep: I've added it with this edit to Template:Select skin. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 08:24, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 20 April 2015[edit]

Please replace the current version with the version currently in the sandbox. It uses less of the page, is less complicated and doesn't include too small a font-size. Thanks. 195.147.63.233 (talk) 09:14, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. Looks a like a step in the right direction but a little bit too crammed together for my likings. You'll need to establish a consensus before this change can be made. Thanks! — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 09:41, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 17 March 2021[edit]

Please change the following:

If there are many examples of a complicated template, later ones may break due to limits in MediaWiki, see the HTML comment "NewPP limit report" in the rendered page.

EGG issue[edit]

I would suggest that the link over "sandbox" be changed to "the sandbox" to avoid a MOS:EGG issue. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 01:25, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request: add links to test with Parsoid[edit]

When I was working on Template talk:Graphic novel list#Edit request: remove extra table row, I thought that it would be convenient to have links to test with Parsoid and with the current parser right there in this template, just like it has links to test in different skins. Therefore, please add something like this to the template:

<small>You can also test using different wikitext parsers: {{hlist|class=inline plainlinks nowraplinks
|[{{fullurl:{{{1|{{FULLPAGENAME}}}}}|useparsoid=1}} {{int:parsermigration-use-parsoid-toolbox-label}}]
|[{{fullurl:{{{1|{{FULLPAGENAME}}}}}|useparsoid=0}} {{int:parsermigration-use-legacy-parser-toolbox-label}}]
}}</small>

(below the existing links: <div style="text-align:center;font-size:90%;">{{select skin}}</div>)

The localisation messages are from the ParserMigration extension, which displays them in the sidebar when enabled. Matma Rex talk 16:19, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Would you mind sandboxing your code and providing a test case? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:33, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure: [1]. The existing test cases at Template:Testcases notice/testcases demonstrate it. Matma Rex talk 16:43, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would look better above, not below, the skins. --Ahecht (TALK
