Numbering of the Plates[edit]

re: «Plate VII of Henry Holiday's original illustrations for the first edition of Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark»

Is "Plate VII of Henry Holiday's original illustration" correct? There are only 9 (not 10) illustrations by Henry Holiday (engraved by Joseph Swain) in Carroll's tragicomedy (plus two illustrations by Holiday on the book covers). The "OCEAN CHART" illustration neither is signed by Henry Holiday nor signed by Joseph Swain. I assume that Carroll commissioned a typesetter to produce that minimalistic illustration (see also https://snrk.de/page_the-ocean-chart/). --DL5MDA (talk) 14:41, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@DL5MDA: I've rephrased it to state it's Plate VII, and that it's by Henry Holiday - as long as we don't link the numbering to the artist, it should be fine. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.9% of all FPs 20:06, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
