Conf North & South grounds[edit]

has it been decided that Conf North and Conf South teams won't have their grounds added to the Football Conference template? or is it still to be done and nobody has got around to it yet? DJhinckley (talk) 13:11, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did initially add them, but it makes the template look quite messy (as many are not linked as grounds that have not hosted national level football don't qualify for articles). I assume you want De Montford Park added, but really the article should be merged into the club one for the aforementioned reason. Number 57 13:18, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
it was just that there were templates for Conf South and Conf North grounds and then they were gone? I've obviously missed the discussion on the Templates Discussion page about what was happening to these templates and just wondered what was going on? And as an afterthought, I've just checked the Main project and Notability criteria pages and there is nothing mentioned about notability for grounds that haven't hosted national level football? Criteria for Clubs is "All teams that have played in the national cup are assumed to meet WP:N criteria" so would have to assume that criteria also applies to grounds of those clubs? If there is other Notability Criteria specifically for grounds elsewhere, could someone point it out please. DJhinckley (talk) 13:54, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It has been discussed on WT:FOOTY a few times. The rationale was along the lines of if the players aren't notable at that level, neither are the stadiums (which really means that Conference National grounds shouldn't qualify either). The vast majority of non-qualifying ground articles have been merged already, but there are one or two that still need to be done (and now I'm reminded I'll probably try and do them next week). That's fair enough if it been discussed and decided that is the notability criteria for grounds. As long as that is applied fairly and all grounds that don't meet the criteria are merged with their main articles, ie Cressing Road, Gateshead International Stadium, Highbury Stadium, Kingfield, Lamb Ground, New Bucks Head, New Lawn, Newport Stadium, North Street and Rockingham Road. Those ones all qualify as they have hosted national-level football (Conference National grounds do qualify despite the comment above). Number 57 21:03, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
