How did this error creep in? Iranians are NOT Arabs. I will try to fix it. BrainyBabe (talk) 18:39, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cyprus[edit]

Cyprus is in Europe is most formal categories only the UN and Americans have different ideas — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 21:23, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This template has for many years used the United Nations geoscheme. If you wish to suggest a change to that consensus, you should make the case here rather than continuing to edit war in the belief that you are right and the UN wrong. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:56, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is odd that you used the UN geoscheme instead of what Britain uses when discussing how the British categorises different ethnic group — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 22:15, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and it's not me who made the decision. You seem to suggest that there is some sort of British official categorisation of countries by region. If there is, can you provide a link to it so that we can consider basing the template layout on it? Cordless Larry (talk) 22:18, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Look at the British Census under the Asian category. You wont see Cypriots listed there — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 22:24, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You'll need to provide a source for that. The census form doesn't mention Cyprus at all. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:30, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Its not under Asia either — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 22:31, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The British census isn't being used as the basis for the Asia classification - the UN geoscheme is. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:35, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging Materialscientist and LouisAragon, who previously reverted the IP. Any thoughts, guys? Cordless Larry (talk) 23:10, 8 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cyprus is part of the EU shouldn't that mean anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 00:17, 9 November 2015 (UTC) It is part group with whites not Asians in this spreadsheet www.ons.gov.uk%2Fons%2Frel%2Fcensus%2F2011-census%2Fkey-statistics-and-quick-statistics-for-wards-and-output-areas-in-england-and-wales%2Frft---qs211ew-wm.xls&usg=AFQjCNEQW7BVB5pY4XY29fGqmL5AwgnFdQ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 00:31, 9 November 2015 (UTC) And here www.ons.gov.uk%2Fons%2Frel%2Fethnicity%2Ffocus-on-ethnicity-and-identity%2Fwho-are-the--other--ethnic-groups-%2Fwho-are-the--other--ethnic-groups--article.pdf&usg=AFQjCNHXs4Uny4IKF94-Us-cOt9C6rVyyg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 00:35, 9 November 2015 (UTC) Now it is part of Europe on UN Geoscheme wiki page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 00:41, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be confusing race and geography. One can be white and from a country outside of Europe - take most Australians, for example, or Israelis, for that matter. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:22, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Your removal of Cyprus from United Nations geoscheme for Asia and addition to United Nations geoscheme for Europe were reverted by Danlaycock, because the scheme itself includes Cyprus under West Asia - as you are by now aware. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:12, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but we are not grouped in with Asians — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.164.227.71 (talk) 14:40, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sri Lanka[edit]

How does one add "List of Sri Lankan Britons" to the "Lists of British people" template on every single page it appears the template appears on? Yohan Anthony Sunanda 21:12, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Just adding it to the template will result in the link appearing on each page the template is used on. However, there already does appear to be a link on this template. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:14, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Although for some reason, it doesn't appear in the template when it is included in some articles by using a redirect rather than the current name of the template. See this edit for how to fix that problem. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:24, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
