Founded and Cat autoinclude[edit]

Hi. The syntax for autoincluding articles in the Cat:YYYY in GAA category is not 100%. Specifically, if the year is included in a link (which happens all the time, and cannot be patrolled), then the following appears at the top of the article:

Ballinhassig is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the...
See Ballinhassig GAA. Any ideas how to fix/resolve? Any syntax available to strip the link before building the cat link? Guliolopez (talk) 11:18, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think adding to the displayed year so it autolinks this will break the ones autolinked at the moment , i'll run awb to fix this , once it auto links, this will prevent people adding to the base year and breaking the template, will look into this tonight Gnevin (talk) 11:37, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Thanks Guliolopez (talk) 12:23, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done and added Category:Sports clubs established in x Gnevin (talk) 21:08, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gnevin, could you change that to Category:Gaelic Athletic Association clubs established in x, please. Years of Establishments (talk) 10:01, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I did it myself now. :-) Years of Establishments (talk) 14:08, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Website[edit]

Shouldn't we add the website as well? It is there for all other sports clubs. For example Bohemian F.C.. People for looking for info on these clubs might be interested to get more info form the club's website as well. I'd like permission to add that to the Infobox --Jorgenpfhartogs (talk) 23:51, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was discussed here Template_talk:Infobox_GAA_county i feel it doesn't add anything to the infobox the best place for it is the bottom of the page Gnevin (talk) 00:01, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 14 November 2014[edit]

can patterns be included for shorts and socks? 62.40.45.146 (talk) 15:44, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Biblioworm 17:03, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 26 November 2018[edit]

Currently this infobox has a style value for the data elements set to "nowrap" ("datastyle=white-space: nowrap"). While this may have been added to address a particular problem (though I'm not sure what), it has the effect of causing EXCESSIVELY wide infoboxes. In particular where addresses added to the {grounds} value are long. This has two impacts. Either we end up with ridiculously wide infoboxes (as we see at Castlemitchell GAA). Or we end up with editors having to use forced formatting techniques to avoid this situation (as we see at CLG Na Fianna). Infobox styles should not force editors into using HTML markup and forced formatting "workarounds" (just so that they look reasonable and follow infobox width guidelines).

In short: the "datastyle=white-space: nowrap" style rule should be removed. Or it should be updated so that it applies only to specific/non-problematic data elements. Guliolopez (talk) 10:18, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Let me know if there are unintended side effects. – Jonesey95 (talk) 11:55, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

edit request / unprotect?[edit]

Any particular reason for this template to be fully protected? It doesn't seem particularly prominent or subject to abuse...

Anyway please could an admin correct the typos in the links as below (linked articles already moved):

All-Ireland Senior Club Ladies Football Championship -> All-Ireland Senior Club Ladies' Football Championship

Senior Club Ladies Football Championship -> Senior Club Ladies' Football Championship

Senior Ladies Football Championship -> Senior Ladies' Football Championship

Thanks Alistair1978 (talk) 17:41, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done It is protected because it has 1,200 transclusions. The most relevant explanation I could find is at Wikipedia:High-risk templates. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:06, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a map[edit]

It should be possible to add a Location map. This could be set to Island of Ireland by default, and assigned by reading the "province" parameter - "Britain", "United States", "australia" for foreign clubs. Sheila1988 (talk) 21:30, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 4 March 2024[edit]

I wonder if the output of the 'irish' parameter might be changed to use a lang template instead of the current italics? E.g. ga. Thanks, Declangi (talk) 05:40, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done Good idea. Knowing the creativity of editors, this will probably cause some strange formatting for unusual or invalid values of |irish=. Keep an eye out for them. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:27, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown parameter tracking[edit]

I have added standard unknown parameter tracking using Category:Pages using infobox GAA club with unknown parameters. If you find any problems with the tracking, please post here. Some unknown parameters are just typos for correct parameters. Others do not correspond to valid parameters and can be removed. If you edit the infobox in Preview, you will see an error message telling you what unknown parameter is present. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:33, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
