Template:FringeTemplate:Fringe (TV series) — This could be confused with being a template for WP:FRINGE. Fringe is not the TV series, which is at Fringe (TV series), so the template does not match the article name 76.66.203.138 (talk) 11:19, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Survey[edit]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Oppose. No need to disambiguate. There isn't a template for WP:FRINGE. Mhiji (talk) 04:26, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment this is not an article, templates are frequently named to match the articles, not because there is no existing template without a disambiguator. 76.66.194.212 (talk) 05:38, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • This seems moderately pointless to me - can we close the discussion to take it off the RM backlog, or is it still important to anyone?--Kotniski (talk) 12:30, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are alot of consistency renames at WP:RM... this is one of them, so it's not all that pointless. It would make the template consistent with its main article. Fringe is a disambiguation page. 76.66.202.72 (talk) 15:22, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - no need for disambiguation. Kelly hi! 03:45, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • No need for a move at this time - If someone was trying to create a template for WP:FRINGE, then I would support ... but moving just for the sake of conformity is pointless. Blueboar (talk) 23:02, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I agree with IP76 about not creating a redirect. This template should be renamed (in line with our naming conventions) to Template:Fringe (TV series), and then this one could be used for the commonly used expression "fringe", which refers to WP:Fringe theories, not a TV series. Rename, not redirect.
  • Oppose – there are no naming conventions for templates, the only templates with a basic naming system are infoboxes. And if we were to go with the naming conventions for articles then it is "the simplest name possible, only disambiguate when needed", unless another template wants this name I see no reason to dab/change this one. Xeworlebi (talk) 20:28, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Any additional comments:
  • The resulting redirect "Template:Fringe" should be suppressed/deleted, and all transclusions shifted to the new name. 76.66.203.138 (talk) 11:19, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What would you do with Template:Fringe then? Just have it as a redirect it to Template:Fringe (TV series)?! Unless you would do something else with it, it would make the move completely pointless! Mhiji (talk) 04:29, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As stated, {{Fringe}} would not exist, it would be suppressed and deleted. All current transclusions would be moved to the new name. The current name would be verboten. The TV series is at Fringe (TV series), and Fringe is a dab page, plus WP:FRINGE is a totally different meaning. So this would move the template to a name that matches the article name. 76.66.194.212 (talk) 07:01, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Fringe showTemplate:Fringe (TV series) – The last move discussion had opposes for this name because there was no need for disambiguation. A couple of months ago this template was at Template:Fringe and moved here, while the redirect for Template:Fringe now points to Template:Fringe theories, so there is a need for disambiguation of this template. The better title would be with (TV series) to match the articles and categories for the television show rather than show. Aspects (talk) 23:30, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
