Templates like this, and this one in particular, are disasters[edit]

This template holds data, but no references, so verification is rather difficult.

Often the references for previous years' datasets helps locate more up-to-date data. For Ceremonial counties of England it is particularly difficult finding the right stats from the ONS. The very similar Template:English admin counties has similar issues. The result is that these templates become out of date, yet due to the presentation via Template:Infobox English county, which separates the content from the description, ie Template:English statistics year, the county pages end up totally misleading, eg Norfolk, whose mid-2014 ONS estimate is now actually 877,710, not 859,400. Density rank incompatible with density[edit]

This template is giving incorrect results. Assuming nobody has edited this template since I wrote this message, see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_ceremonial_counties_of_England&oldid=787522526 and sort by density: the density ranks are all wrong. -- Dr Greg  talk  18:40, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've now fixed the problem myself. -- Dr Greg  talk  20:20, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Yearly population estimates are not available at ward level" in re County Durham and North Yorkshire[edit]

Is this not it? Ward Level Mid-Year Population Estimates (Experimental Statistics) ("Mid-2016 Persons" sheet, "All ages" column)
Ingleby Barwick East (10,561) + Ingleby Barwick West (12,157) + Mandale and Victoria (12,356) + Village (7,136) + Stainsby Hill (6,363) + Yarm (9,856) = North Yorkshire part (58,429)
Total borough (195,681) — North Yorkshire part (58,429) = Durham part (137,252)
If this is the case, I think it's worth maybe adding "Stockton-on-Tees (Durham part)" and "Stockton-on-Tees (North Yorkshire part)" values to Template:English district population and Template:English district area, just so it's easy to reference the numbers in the two county and the borough articles. --Inops (talk) 21:12, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Data outdated[edit]

All English county template data for both population estimates and area is quite out of date now (2019). I wonder if somebody more capable than I is able to update them to the latest 2021 figures please? Dgp4004 (talk) 18:59, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
