On notability of some events[edit]

I afraid that recent edits may escalate to a full edit war. Some events inserted in Benigno Aquino III's presidency has disputed notability in relation to his presidency. There needs to be Consensus or guideline on what to be included or not.

Some of the disputed events in question which has been added and reverted in recent history. I may have forgot some entries here.

Here are some of my opinion on selected cases.

  • The Aman Futures scam is arguably notable, but doesn't have a standalone article hence it is reverted.
  • Gwen Garcia's suspension may have be a result of a political tension between the ruling party and the opposition but this isn't really a defining moment for Aquino's presidency.
  • Nicole Ella's death isn't really that notable and and example of a media hype and arguably an example of Silly season reporting, a case the media used as a highlight in relation to annual New Year's eve celebration death from indiscriminate firing of guns and firecrackers.
  • Manny Pacquiao's tax issues are nothing of concern with President Aquino's presidency.
  • The Mountain Province bus accident and Death of Tado Jimenez is non-notable in relations to Aquino's presidency.
  • Vhong Navarro assult incident again has nothing to do with Aquino's presidency. Its supposed national significance is media hype due to widespread coverage of the media some days after the incident. The case maybe notable itself but has nothing to do or has minimal effect to Aquino's presidency.
  • The EDSA Hulidap, is also an example of media hype. Viral videos are usually not notable. The case maybe notable but again not in relation with Aquino's presidency. It maybe notable in relation to Metro Manila afairs but this is not a national issue.

If a president comments or somehow involved on an issue, such as Pacquiao's tax issues, it does not automatically says that the issue is relevant to Aquino's presidency. Again only events/issues with relations to Aquino's presidency should be included not just events tthat happened during his presidency. Might as well include Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes'wedding, since Aquino attended such event and was criticized for attending the wedding a midst a Typhoon. Kidding aside, widespread coverage does not automatically assume a siginificant connection of an event to Aquino's presidency. --Hariboneagle927 (talk) 04:16, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note that this is the sock of the same guy (@Vince daryl falcunitin:) that's been blocked for spamming the years in the Philippines articles with the same type of edits. –HTD 02:15, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Projects list[edit]

Please state the reason why infrastructure projects are relevant to this presidency or why they should be placed in this presidency template. What are the criteria for a government project to be listed as an "accomplishment" of a certain president? Is it the president who conceived or planned the project? The president who awarded the project? Or the president who actually delivered and completed a project? I have removed this listing for now until those questions have been answered. Apart from the arbitrary nature of this type of lists, i believe there is a legislation in the PH that prohibits this practice of political posturing. This is also inconsistent with other PH presidential templates and even US ones.--RioHondo (talk) 08:12, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This was allowed to happen in Ferdinand Marcos' navbox (which you recently removed). All the projects I listed in Aquino's navbox are projects that his administration approved, funded, constructed and completed. If you are going to remove it, you should do the same to all navboxes of Philippine presidents. — Lawrence Ruiz (talk) 08:39, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The question is: are they useful information or links for the different presidencies? Drop the fanboyism for a while, i obviously dont follow all presidental navboxes but just these recent ones hence i also just found out about the Marcos navbox and removed them too. But check out Template:Corazon Aquino, Template:Fidel V. Ramos, Template:Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Template:Rodrigo Duterte, and Template:Emilio Aguinaldo. And even Template:Barack Obama, Template:Donald Trump, etc. No projects to be found in those templates. How are they relevant to these personalities anyway? You are also wrong to claim that all these projects were completed by Aquino considering we are towards the end of his successor's administration and projects like Cavite–Laguna Expressway, MRT Line 7 (Metro Manila), LRT Line 1 (Metro Manila) Cavite Extension, LRT Line 2 (Metro Manila) East Extension, and Bicol International Airport are still unfinished. This is what I meant by a potential arbitrary listing. CC: Howard the Duck, HueMan1, Hariboneagle927, your inputs are greatly appreciated. Thanks--RioHondo (talk) 09:25, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
An administration cannot claim a project that it did not approve, sought funding for, and awarded contracts to contractors. Just because the project was completed in your administration doesn't make it yours. Anyway, since you already removed the projects in the Marcos navbox, I am okay with removing the projects in the Aquino navbox, granted that it remains a constant. — Lawrence Ruiz (talk) 10:34, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Which adminstration is claiming which? There was only Aquino and Marcos that had these lists. No one is taking these projects from anyone, but their usefulness in these templates and accuracy are questionable to say the least. No presidential template should ever have any such type of lists, these are all projects of the Philippines and the Filipino people. Credit is due to the taxpayers, not any of these credit grabbing politicians past or present. If there are similar claims outside of verifiable information let me know. This arbitrary criteria on whose projects were accomplishments of which administration definetly dont deserve to be prominently displayed. Doing away with all of these is the best solution.--RioHondo (talk) 11:12, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, I don't know, maybe we should remove the projects list from the Marcos template as well (if it's still there, of course). —hueman1 (talk contributions) 10:12, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Hueman1! There only two templates affected by this discussion. Already removed those supposed Marcos "accomplishments" too.--RioHondo (talk) 11:12, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
