Discussion

[edit]

There a lot of templates that contain an opening {| but then no closing |}. Placing the closing |} in the article leads to the article being flagged as having a wiki syntax problem by the bots that generate the articles for WP:WS. In my opinion, using the {{end}} template in articles with such a template would be sensible. The alternative would be to generate an end template for every template with the opening {| in which would vastly increase the number of templates. Kcordina 10:59, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

please add {{col-end}} as a see also via noinclude. -- Zondor 08:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rename?

[edit]

{{editprotected}} Perhaps this template could be renamed {{End table}} as {{End}} seems too generic/vague...? Sardanaphalus (talk) 23:53, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any benefits. Who would the change benefit? I've gone ahead and redirected the duped template to here, by the way. --- RockMFR 03:52, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't realized that {{End table}} already existed - sorry! I guess my requested was prompted by the thought there may be other kinds of "ends" than the end-table given here. Sardanaphalus (talk) 04:41, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
End is much easier to remember and shorter to type. Better for our editors, I think. ("S-end", however, redirects here, for consistency with the other templates of the {{s-start}} series.) Waltham, The Duke of 21:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
End works nicely. I was creating a completely unrelated series of templates and realized I was duplicating this one just to end a table. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 22:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Line break added

[edit]

I have added a line break to this template after the recent TFD resulted in redirecting multiple templates into this one. Some of those templates had line breaks in them, and some transclusions, like the one built in to {{Starbox short}}, were depending on those line breaks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:00, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Visual error

[edit]

There seems to be a problem either here or with Template:Vb cl9 team or Template:Vb cl3 header. It may have been caused by the line break that was added recently, but I don't know.

See the pool standings. I've fixed that article by replacing the template with |}, but I think the goal of this template is not to do that. Also there may be more articles with the same problem.

BlackBeastofArgh (talk) 22:40, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I removed an extra manual line break from {{Vb cl9 team}}, which appears to have fixed that article. If I caused any problems in other articles with that change, let me know. Thanks for being so calm and bringing the discussion to this page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:50, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

First parameter

[edit]

Jonesey95, care to explain your most recent revert? If you'd like to take a look at the documentation of the template you're reverting on, you'll see examples such as {{End|Cricket series}} and {{End|election table}}. In the discussion we've already had, you've already even seen 200+ examples of {{End|Episode table}}. Which parameter is that value held in? The answer is |1=. So: "not a valid parameter"? What happened to AGF? -- /Alex/21 14:51, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like I can't read. That is some bad programming practice, but it looks like that guidance has been there since 2015. I recommend converting the couple hundred instances of |1= to a hidden comment and removing this guidance. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:58, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Random |} at top

[edit]

There is a |} at the top of the article serving no purpose? Can someone remove it? Procyon117 (talk) 18:43, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, it's on the Template:S-end page. Procyon117 (talk) 18:45, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's intentional. A vertical bar and a closing curly brace |} is the whole wikitext of the template {{S-end}}. It's the syntax for closing a table. —andrybak (talk) 21:31, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
