Pangani River[edit]

Pangani, Tanzania on the Pangani River

  • ... that the village of Pangani (village and river pictured) on the Pangani River's left bank, had a reputation for fevers?

Date, length, sources, policies are fine, but the hook is sort of boring. Picture is o.k. I am a bit skeptical about Ptolemy's knowledge of this part of the world, so find "almost all authorities agree..." hard to swallow. Maybe a slightly better hook, still not very catchy but at least puzzling, would be ALT1 below?: Aymatth2 (talk) 00:42, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
ALT1 ... that the Pangani River (pictured) was probably Ptolemy's Rhaptus?
The hook is very uninformative. Did it have a reputation for healers who could cure fevers? Did it have a high incidence of fevers? Did it have specific, unique fevers? A reputation is normally associated with a qualitative or quantitative perception, not a medical concept. Kevin McE (talk) 23:49, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
