  • First off, great work for Women in Red, but... it seems like the notability of this subject is very thin. I'm not sure if someone so borderline in notability makes a good choice for DYK, even if it might barely survive AFD. WP:NBASKETBALL indicates that no "automatic" notability is gained due to not actually being drafted by the WNBA, and the English Women's Basketball League doesn't appear to be very notable (Northants Basketball Club doesn't even have a Wikipedia article, and its website is pretty unimpressive). This would be irrelevant if there were strong secondary sources on the usual general notability guidelines, but there kind of don't seem to be? All the news articles are trivial mentions in passing, where she was interviewed for a brief comment about a game. All the bio-type articles are from directories and the like which don't really count for notability.
If you can find a better source that is specifically about Cali rather than being about the Somali team / Northants, then I think we're largely good to go (hook is dry, but I'm not sure there's anything better... the bit about the Somali women playing in hijabs feels too tabloidy and not Cali-specific enough). But I think otherwise it might be best to just leave this one as not quite clearing the bar for DYK. SnowFire (talk) 18:47, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi SnowFire, thanks for the review. Sorry, I don't usually write sports articles, I should have checked the basketball notability guidelines first. I had presumed that someone who had played a competitive international match would be automatically presumed notable. However I see this is not the case. As such she is probably close to the border of notability. I am happy to withdraw this article from consideration for DYK. Thanks - Dumelow (talk) 21:40, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
