Harry Kizirian[edit]

  • ... that Harry Kizirian (pictured) is considered one of the most decorated Marines of World War II and the most decorated serviceman from Rhode Island?

Created by Proudbolsahye (talk), AzureCitizen (talk). Nominated by Proudbolsahye (talk) at 23:05, 2 May 2013 (UTC).

The photograph was granted to me by the Kizirian in RI who claimed that they have copyrights to the photo as well. Proudbolsahye (talk) 17:45, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
I believe it unlikely that their claim is correct, I'm sure Corbis do too. The copyright remains with the photographer, the subject may retain personality rights. - hahnchen 01:08, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
    • Army or Marines? Lead says both. Also, I find it hard to believe one of the most decorated Marines of the war and from RI only has two combat awards. That's probably journalistic fluff. He is indeed a hero but I think a scrub and new hook are needed.PumpkinSky talk 00:49, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
    • The lead is wrong. Corrected. Second article I've looked at today where the article is correct and the lead is wrong. Hawkeye7 (talk) 22:08, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
      • It is fluffy. For an eye-catching hook, try mentioning the Navy Cross citation, the guy killed 12 Japanese while unable to walk. Readers are going to like that. - hahnchen 01:08, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT1 - ... that Harry Kizirian was awarded the Navy Cross for killing 12 Japanese soldiers in the Battle of Okinawa while being unable to walk? - hahnchen 19:52, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT1a ... that Harry Kizirian was awarded the Navy Cross for killing 12 Japanese soldiers while being unable to walk? Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:54, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you Hanchen. I felt that adding the battle of Okinawa was rather excessive. I provided an ALT1a...we'll see how it goes. Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:54, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

A user is need to review ALT1a. Proudbolsahye (talk) 21:29, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

    • Article is new enough, long enough. QPQ fine. Hook ALT 1a verified against online source. Dropping the photograph. It's on Commons so nothing more to do here. Article not fully referenced. Hawkeye7 (talk) 22:08, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Fixed ref issues. Proudbolsahye (talk) 22:11, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
