Gordon (slave)[edit]

Civil War CDV of Gordon at the Baton Rouge Union camp during his medical examination, 1863.

  • ... that a photograph showing the scourged back of a Mississippi slave named Gordon (pictured) became one of the leading abolitionist images?

  • I'm afraid the article is not long enough. It needs c. 400 more characters. I've taken the liberty of slightly amending the hook to conform with DYK rules. Surtsicna (talk) 22:04, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
  • A few more lines have been added. Is it long enough now? Scewing (talk) 19:17, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Yes, it's alright now. Good to go! Surtsicna (talk) 20:24, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Neither can I, but only because I didn't know there were so many people monitoring DYK. You can expect thousands more the day it's featured! I'd like to suggest replacing the informal "photo" with "photograph", though; I didn't notice that before. Surtsicna (talk) 08:32, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
This was not because of DYK, but because of this article on Reddit. Blue Rasberry (talk) 18:53, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
So Reddit does wonders for DYK hooks even before they are promoted? That's interesting. Thanks, Bluerasberry. How do you even see that an article was linked to on Reddit? Surtsicna (talk) 18:58, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
