Goo Hara

  • ALT1: ... that the South Korean inheritance law was amended in 2020 with what is known as the Goo Hara Act to prevent a parent from claiming inheritance if they had neglected their parental duties?

Improved to Good Article status by Robertsky (talk). Self-nominated at 14:48, 12 January 2022 (UTC).

  • I've restructured the hook as ALT1 for readability and simplified it by dropping the month (which seems irrelevant). Schwede66 00:53, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
  • I shall review this shortly. Storye book (talk) 10:32, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: None required.

Overall: Thank you, Robertsky for this detailed biographical article. I understand that you do not have five or more DYK credits, therefore you are exempt from QPQ. The article is new enough for DYK, having been promoted to GA on 9 January 2021. Thank you, Schwede66 for shortening the hook. Just one issue: the character count for ALTs 0 and 1 is 196 and 187 respectively. Can we shorten it any more, and get it to start off a bit hookier? e.g. maybe something like, ... that after Goo Hara's mother abandoned her and Goo died young and rich, South Korean law was changed to prevent such parents from claiming inheritance? (151 characters). Storye book (talk) 11:50, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@Storye book: Thanks for the review and copyedit. On the hook, sure, but young and rich there's nothing on her networth in the article, and from what I have seen online, English (unreliable) sources were saying 5 billion won, and this is a guesstimate at the best; English and Korean (reliable) sources have no mention about the estate size. How about:
ALT2: ... that after Goo Hara's absent mother demanded half of her estate at her funeral, South Korean law was changed to prevent such parents from claiming inheritance? (159 characters)
ALT3: ... that after Goo Hara's mother abandoned her and Goo died young, South Korean law was changed to prevent such parents from claiming inheritance? (143 characters).
thoughts? – robertsky (talk) 15:40, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Thank you, robertsky. Would you agree that ALT3 is better because it says more about Goo personally? If so, I'll pass it with preference for ALT3. Storye book (talk) 15:54, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
