Bim bam toi

Created by Moscow Connection (talk). Self-nominated at 23:55, 23 December 2019 (UTC).

Length, history and reference verified. Daniel Case (talk) 17:48, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
  • While the article is technically 1525 prose characters, 320 of these are quoted lyrics (378 if you count the video quotes), between a fifth and a fourth of the article's length. Moscow Connection, this needs more original material to meet the length requirement. (I'm also worried about how much of the lyrics have been quoted; it may go beyond fair use into copyvio territory.) The article should not be difficult to expand, as I see the song has very recently charted, something that has not been mentioned in the prose. Once the expansion is done, the review will need to be completed and address the other DYK criteria, such as neutrality, copyvio/close paraphrasing, adequate QPQ (it also doesn't address the issues missing from this above review), and referencing throughout (which looks fine). Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:45, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
    • 1. Okay, I'll expand it. (I need a few days. I'm trying to make myself finish another article.) 2. Technically, you can say I didn't quote the song, I quoted the article that quoted the song. The article's author probably decided that the song was best explained with a quote from it. Especially since the song is really crazy. --Moscow Connection (talk) 01:21, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
  • @Moscow Connection: I tried to expand it with another paragraph, but didn't have any luck. Is there a good source on the impact the song has had? --evrik (talk) 17:20, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
    • @Evrik: Can I do it tomorrow, please? I promise I'll expand the article. (Or, if I don't succeed, I will just say it is impossible.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:51, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
    • The sources are here: [1], [2], [3]. --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:51, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
    • @Evrik: Btw, if you expand the article a little bit, I'll happily add your name to the nomination! (I can't do it myself right now, I'll return tomorrow.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:56, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
      • Thans, but I don't need the credit. :-) --evrik (talk) 19:41, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
  • @BlueMoonset: I added enough text to get it over the 1500 character threshold. I also set aside the majority of the quoted lyrics, which I think add to the article. MC is going to look at this again, but I think I helped with the issues cited above. --evrik (talk) 19:40, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
  • ALT1 ... that "Bim Bam Boom" aboard a plane caused quite a stir in France? --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:10, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
  • ALT2 ... that a bim bam boom aboard a plane caused quite a stir in France? --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:10, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Copyedit/cleanup: French titles generally only capitalize the first word, so I did that consistently through the article. It's probably okay if you want to capitalize each word, but just be consistent. To preserve the original language in the sources, I used {{verse translation}} to give the original and translated lyrics. I put in translated titles for some of the French sources, but I think there's a bit of overcitation and didn't do all of them. I also tightened up the prose; it's still over 1,500 characters.
Approve ALT2: Article is new enough, just long enough, and within policy. No copyvio detected (Earwig for quotes and proper names only). Quoted lyrics are a little long but not excessively so (it'd be nice if there was commentary on them). Article is neutral and verifiable with sufficient inline citations. QPQ verified. Hooks are of good length, neutral, and cited in the article. One small formatting note: "bim bam boom" is a translation of the lyrics "bim bam boum", not a translation of the song title (which would be "Bim bam you"), so I think that "Bim Bam Boom" should be all lowercase (hence I have only approved ALT2). I think it'd work with or without double quotes. I would also like to recommend this for April Fool's as a light, fun hook. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:51, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
@Moscow Connection and The C of E: Would this be good for April Fool's? – Reidgreg (talk) 14:58, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
@Reidgreg: Well I would have to say yes, especially for ALT2 as it takes advantage of the special rules regarding punctuation for April Fools Day. Go ahead and put it in the list! The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 18:16, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
@Reidgreg: Yes, sure! --Moscow Connection (talk) 02:24, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I don't see any connection in the article between the video on the plane and France. Yoninah (talk) 19:14, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: The video went viral in France. I've just added: "in France": [4]. Source: [5]. (The article says that "it’s mainly trending in France" and that "the topic also started trending on other social media, especially Twitter, where it’s been in the Top 10 French".) --Moscow Connection (talk) 22:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
  • OK, thanks. Restoring tick. Yoninah (talk) 22:43, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
