Atkinsons of London[edit]

Atkinsons of London

Created by Edwardx (talk), Smerus (talk). Nominated by Edwardx (talk) at 00:08, 19 June 2014 (UTC).

  • "Atkinsons were not alone in claiming that bear's grease could facilitate the regrowth of hair for bald men." - it's not really clear whether this refers to their own product or others. Jamesx12345 17:37, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
  • In Georgian and Victorian England, bear grease was widely believed to have restorative qualities for hair, and Atkinsons were not the first to make this claim, but it was their first successful product. I'll try to add a bit more to the article to flesh this out. Please bear with me (ha ha). Edwardx (talk) 21:32, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
  • All fine now. . Thanks, Jamesx12345 22:22, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
The source implies but doesn't state outright that "others" plied bear grease as a baldness cure, I suggest adding an additional source, there seem to be a few available. Gatoclass (talk) 10:57, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
The new citation points to an advertisement from the 1780s -- before Atkinson's was founded. I can't see the footnote in the Google Book, but the citation appears to take care of Gatoclass' concern. Beyond that, the article is new enough and long enough and adequately footnoted, the hook fact checks out as being in the article and supported by appropriately cited sources, the image license is good, and I did not detect any close paraphrasing. (However, I do note that the word "hibernation" was not original, but borrowed from a source. To avoid overdoing the borrowing, I removed it from the lede.) Everything seems to be OK. --Orlady (talk) 18:20, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
I've linked bear's grease in the hook, as we now have an article on the subject. Edwardx (talk) 23:23, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
So do you want to make it a double nom? Gatoclass (talk) 10:27, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Separate please, as there are too many different people to be credited. Edwardx (talk) 10:53, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
