Ampersand's Entertainment Guide

  • ... that Wolfman Jack helped finance his nephew's Ampersand magazine? Source: L.A. Times: "About $100,000 was supplied by family members, including Achee’s uncle, radio disc jockey Bob Smith, better known as 'Wolfman Jack.'"

Created by Binksternet (talk). Self-nominated at 00:46, 31 August 2020 (UTC).

  • New enough
  • Long enough
  • the hooky bit seems to be the name "Wolfman Jack" rather than the actual magazine itself? (This is my second review, so I'm feeling my way in the "hookiness" realm.)
  • QPQ - I'm not sure - I used the QPQ checker, but I'm not sure how to tell if they are OK for credits? Please could you advise @Yoninanh: (& thanks for your patience as I learn @Binksternet: (Lajmmoore (talk) 15:29, 2 September 2020 (UTC))
  • Regarding Wolfman Jack, it's okay for a hook to talk about other topics as long as the new article is included. For instance, this hook starts out with an actress and even has her photo, but the new articles are concerts, not the actress. So bringing Wolfman Jack in is fine.
  • Regarding QPQ, you can click on Template:Did you know nominations/Mary Schenck Woolman and see that I reviewed the nomination. You'll have to trust that I am not using that same review for multiple QPQs (I'm not!) Cheers... Binksternet (talk) 15:45, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Good start! Though erm I'll reping @Yoninah: :3 VincentLUFan (talk) (Kenton!) 17:20, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Lajmmoore, this is a good start. Regarding the "hookiness" of the hook, that's up to you. Would you click on Wolfman Jack if you saw this, or on the magazine to see what that's about? I would do the latter. So in terms of hookiness, I think it works.
  • Please also check that the hook fact is verified (or AGF if the source is offline) and has an inline cite in the article. Make sure every paragraph has at least one citation (see Rule D2), that the presentation is neutral, and that any images are correctly licensed. Go here] to check for close paraphrasing.
  • If the nominator has submitted a QPQ, you don't have to research whether he needs to do so or not. Just review the QPQ to make sure it's a full review (meaning, it checks the five main DYK criteria like you are doing). @Binksternet: there's no need to "trust" editors on this; after reviewing your QPQ to see if it's complete, we just go into "What links here" in the side panel to see if this QPQ was used for any other nomination. It wasn't!. Best, Yoninah (talk) 20:01, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
Pinging Lajmmoore... Can you close this one out a stamp of approval or whatever seems right? Binksternet (talk) 08:07, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the help everyone! I will get there in the end. Here you are Binksternet
Overall a YES - since there the requirements are met. New enough, long enough, hook is cited and there's a QPQ. (Lajmmoore (talk) 08:46, 10 September 2020 (UTC))
