Osama bin Laden (elephant)

[edit]
  • ... that after his death, Osama bin Laden was identified by his lack of tusks?
  • ALT1:... that after the death of Osama bin Laden, Indian authorities were concerned by revenge attacks by elephants?
  • ALT2:... that before he was killed, Osama bin Laden was scared into the corner of a tea planation by the sound of drums played by Indian villagers?

  • Review Good to go! Way more than a 5X expansion. New enough, long enough, timely DYK nomination. Meets core policies and guidelines, and in particular: is neutral; cites sources with inline citations; is free of close paraphrasing issues, copyright violations and plagiarism. QPQ confirmed. Article is easily long enough. Every paragraph is cited. Hook references are verified and cited. No copyright violations or too close paraphrasing. Earwig's copyvio detector The hook is really appealing andhooky enough, I think, and relates directly to the essence of the article. The ALTS all check out. They are all interesting, decently neutral, and appropriately cited. I agree that this should go in a special holding area for April Fools Day if the original hook is used. 7&6=thirteen () 15:44, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I'd added the reviewer as a co-creator due to the number of improvements conducted on the article. Therefore this one needs a re-review. Miyagawa (talk) 15:45, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Comment: I'm good with ALT3. 7&6=thirteen () 11:22, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Also happy with that. Miyagawa (talk) 12:03, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I think someone else will be needed to approve ALT3 (which I think is a bit more hooky than the others). Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:43, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Good to go. ALT3 - great hook. AtsmeConsult 14:22, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Edit conflict. ALT3 - confirmed! GTG. Referenced properly. I hope ALT3 is selected, as it sounds real catchy.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:04, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
I personally think ALT0 is even more amusing. --Jakob (talk) 17:58, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
  • ALT4 ... that after Osama bin Laden went rogue, he was cornered and shot in a tea plantation? EEng (talk) 02:17, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Comment ALT4 is OK too. 7&6=thirteen () 11:33, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Comment All the hooks are fine with me. We need to get this wrapped up and put into a queue for April Fool's Day. 7&6=thirteen () 19:17, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
This also needs a FULL REVIEW ASAP. Or not. It's been reviewed twice, and our esteemed kibitizers keeping adding ALTS. Defecate or get off the pot. 7&6=thirteen () 19:19, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
If any editors are having trouble with that, see Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Dr._Young's_Ideal_Rectal_Dilators. EEng (talk) 22:43, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Or We could put this in a Special Holding area for April 1 2016. This was initially reviewed on New Year's day 2015, and rereviewd on January 4. 7&6=thirteen () 12:28, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
Hey, Ritchie333 and Martinevans123, can one of you do a favor for poor 7+6 and do a review? (I can't since I wrote some of the hooks.) EEng (talk) 13:17, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
  • I've checked everything. Article was more than 5x expanded between January 2 and 8. Should The Almightey Drill be included on the "roll of honour" for doing a bit of copyediting during this period? Earwig's tool reports no copyvios. I liked EEng's ALT6 (hey, he does my kind of humour, sue me) which is cited to The Independent. Only difference is I'd say "went on a rampage" rather than "went rogue". Do I need to do an ALT7 for that, or can we just IAR and fix it in the queue? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:31, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
    • I refuse to have anything to do with this nonsense. What do you take me for, a complete Dumbo?! Martinevans123 (talk) 19:29, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
God knows there's enough to remember in this world, so why don't you just tick this now:
  • ALT7 ... that after Osama bin Laden (who was at least nine feet tall) went on a rampage, he was cornered and shot in a tea plantation? EEng (talk) 13:42, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
Absolutely fine with ALT7. To the prep area please, gents. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:57, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
I agree. By all means, add User: The Almightey Drill as a cocreator. This is not a zero sum game. 7&6=thirteen () 16:46, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
I'm flattered by this recognition. I simply saw a funny-looking DYK article title, and made some tiny changes here and there. :) '''tAD''' (talk) 19:35, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
While we are adding contributors, I would suggest that we add User: Martinevans123 too. 7&6=thirteen () 21:11, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
