Source for James Marsters claim[edit]

A lot of people seem to be running with an assessment that the guy voicing Zamas is really James Marsters with no real source to properly verify the claim outside of a single tweet by Funimation announcing that the voice actor is a guy by the name of David Grey. Which fails, as it does not call Marsters out in any official capacity. There needs to some kind of source that properly verifies any involvement Marsters might have with Dragon Ball Super. For all we know, David Grey might be an actual actor who's doing a flawless James Marsters impression for the role. Sarujo (talk) 00:54, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This source is not helpful. First, unverified account and the account holder isn't an established source, which is not a preferable choice for citation. Second, the interviewee was Sean Schemmel, a fellow voice actor (and often they don't work together in the studio at the same time due to scheduling), not Christopher Sabat who works as the voice director and has a degree of authority over casting work. If this is such an important piece of information, why didn't any of the anime or manga websites report on this revelation by Schemmel which he dropped in an interview with an unknown content creator? I suspect that because if they are aware of this interview and if they do so, it would undermine their reputation as a reliable source of information. As for BTVA, I invite you to peruse this page on IMDB which talks about how information on BTVA really gets verified with the green tick, and no it's not the actors' agents who provides confirmation of casting roles directly with BTVA: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/how-to-effectively-use-behind-the-voice-actors-as-a-source-of-information/5f4a7a308815453dba9d41f8

My understanding is that "Sam Majesters" is the credited voice actor for Zamasu in the video games, David Grey in the anime dub. So it appears that BTVA connected these identities to Marsters based on conjecture, but that doesn't mean wikipedia editors should follow suit. In the source I provided, Marsters was asked point black about it by CBR in an interview 2 years ago and he refused to confirm or deny his involvement. The most recent source I have provided, in French, also confirms that neither Marsters nor Sabat have come out and clarify once and for all that David Grey and Sam Majesters are the aliases used by Masters. I think the way I've worded the situation with Zamasu's voice works out the best so far. Any statements which connects both Grey and Majesters to Marsters as a definitive statement of fact, as supposed to keeping a neutral POV by simply reporting on both the confirmation and the speculations at face value according to cited searches, violates Wikipedia's policy on original research, because the sources simply aren't there. On further thought, let's add the source in, but make it clear that it is Schemmel who made the claim. The English voice actor(s) for the article should stick to whatever is credited in the series or video games, unless Marsters or Sabat finally confirmed the pseudonym business in a reliable source. Fancruft[edit]

The article seems to be mostly composed of fancruft material including description of the character's visual appearance and techniques. There are already images that work alongside their alt to describe the character so there is no need to such descriptions. The techniques section would be more fitting in the wikia/wiki of Dragon Ball.Tintor2 (talk) 16:30, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't really pay attention to the information under the powers and abilities headings when I restored the redirect, as I was focusing on fleshing out the reception section. The article certainly could use trimming for a paragraph or two, but otherwise it should have enough sources to sustain itself and pass GNG. Haleth (talk) 13:04, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
