The primary aspects of Zach's career[edit]

I added, in the main paragraph, that as a musician, Zach is primarily known as being a drummer. Before it simply stated he was a musician, which I felt meritted some elaboration. I further stated that Zach's primary group is Hella, being that a) he has recorded more work with them than anyone else by far, and b) his albums with Hella are as or more popular than other albums he has recorded on, except probably Team Sleep. Opinion[edit]

I've seen Hella a couple times and I could swear that he uses a double bass pedal. He definitely bounces his left foot off the high hat constantly while playing. The action of which I attributed to the constant ba-BUMP ba-BUMP ba-BUMP bassdrum present underneath his playing. I GUARANTEE you he does not use a double bass pedal. Just look at the Hella dvd "Concentration Face" which has many clear shots of his foot work. You can probably find photos online that have clear shots of his feat as well. Cyclopseslayer

I Went to Grade School, and Jr High with Zach and I remember he started druming in at least 93 maybe earlier and he was a great cartoonist he could draw some crazy stuff. Talented Guy. I still have my Jr High Year Book with Zach in it.

I also went to grade school, middle school, and high school with zac and he MOST definitely not self taught. Hold on there! That's a serious accusation! He very may well of practiced drumset basics and the fundamentals of fitting into a musical setting with a group of people. As to receiving any formal instruction, hella freak'n no! Zach is a musical prodigy. He has pioneered his own brand of drumming that raises the bar and pushes the limits of the art ridiculously. I seriously challenge anyone to find an instructor who can teach anyone 95% of his unbelievably long and accomplished musical resume. His approach is completely unconventional and original so even if he wasn't "self taught" no one showed him how to do it. Previously uninvented, the style he plays is his invention. He sure is a single kick drummer. If you still refuse to take my word for it, just check out the Zach Hill unedited version of the Van's shoe commercial along with concentration face or the countless other clear shots on youtube. I can't even believe someone who claim's to of known him and doesn't spell his name correctly could say "MOST definitely not self taught". But hey, I'm sure your the upmost authority on Zach's entire life and career in music and art.More so than himself or his fans. What an absurd comment to post. Anyone with chops as original and inhumanly sick as Zach definitely possesses the ability to teach himself. I've been a fan for a while now, and never lost a bit of enthusiasm. In fact, excitement only grows for the drummer who averages at least five full-length albums a year. His music reached me at a difficult point in my life and helped me a great deal. Through his projects I've discovered so many other creative musicians. As an artist and drummer for fifteen years now myself, he was the first musician to inspire me to do something totally different. Not to attempt to mock or recreate his or anyone elses style, but to form one of my own. He's such a multidementional person in all of the bands he's in. This also inspired me to create music on every level instead of just the drums.
