Sourcing[edit]

SaniOKh : This would be a question for all of the Wikipedia users. I sure didn't quote sources when I wrote this article, it is only because the sole source of information I had was the described book itself, I simply told what I've read while looking in the book to avoid confusions. Do I find a complete text on the internet and quote towards it? I'm not sure what is to be done, here... SaniOKh 05:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In general, you need to cite another source that talks about the book (i.e., literary criticism). This is because Wikipedia cannot contain original research. A guideline for what sort of information should be contained in articles about books can be found at Wikipedia:Notability_(books). Oh, and p.s., please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). OK, I figure this page I wrote so hard will be erased in the future, as there is no source in English about this book (the only thing I actually found was redirecting to this same article :/). There are some in Russian, but they depict the main concept and don't go far in the details. I thought that if people often posted their film plot summaries unsourced, it was also possible to do the same for a book. So I was wrong. OK, I'll just post sources as I find them. I'm not familiar with the text, but if it's notable, there's no reason it shouldn't be here. The sources don't need to be online, so a published review in a magazine / newspaper would work as well. (Although since this is new, I guess those could be hard to find). And while people do use the primary texts (or movies) for summaries, we still need to have a secondary source (or two) to show that the subject is notable. Still, I'll go ahead and tag the article as a work-in-progress. That should give you some time to see if you can come across any sources. I posted on Wikipedia Project Russia a demand for help. I had no answer for now.

English Wikipedia has no problems with sources in other languages: we have all ethicities here to read and verify, and certainly plenty of Russophones. It is only that English language sources are really preferrable and desirable. `'Míkka 23:06, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
