Yang Pan-houYang Banhou – The pinyin spelling "Yang Banhou" appears to have become at least as common, if not more common, than the Wade-Giles spelling. [1], [2], [3]. In keeping with WP:NCZH, I propose moving this page to the pinyin name. I am a big fan of Hanyu Pinyin, but Google reports 53,400 results for "Yang Ban-hou" and only 33,700 results for "Yang Banhou". Comments? Jōkepedia (talk) 22:35, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A simple Google web search is not a very reliable method of gauging usage (they can include many false positives, and there are lots of Wikipedia mirrors). Google Books is a lot better because it only includes published sources, and comparing recent usage of Yang Pan-hou to Yang Banhou there shows 646 results for the pinyin spelling versus only 258 for Wade-Giles. Good point. Jōkepedia (talk) 02:00, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as it's the usual convention when there's not much reason to prefer the other romanization. Adumbrativus (talk) 08:11, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
