These scanners are not actually used only for medical. They are also used for microfossils, biomedical, foods seeds… anything none-destructive. But because of the large scans the X-ray doses gets also very high.

A different category would be needed for this.(see nanotomography)

In the future I will add scan samples to show what these machines can do. :-) Some samples are very impressive.

Examples[edit]

In the section that describe examples, the dimensions should be used carefully. For example the following statement

E.g. composite material with glass fibers 10 to 12 micrometres in diameter

gives misleading figures. There is no reason why a microCT would not be able to scan a composite with 9 or 13 um thick glass fibers. --ondra (talk) 13:26, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
