winter song[edit]

Why is this called a Christmas song? It's just a winter song.

There's a fine line between "Christmas song" and "Winter song". Various secular wintery songs that make no mention of the specific Christmas holiday are still considered Christmas songs. Kip the Dip 23:50, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Usually "Parson Brown" is replaced by "Circus Clown", and then "we'll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman 'til the other kiddies knock him down."
This was added sometime after the original publication -- whether by the original lyricist or someone else, I'm not sure. My 1953 copy of the sheet music refers to that verse as "a new children's lyric". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.19.88 (talk) 01:15, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Variant Version[edit]

I have heard at least one version that has both the stanza about Parson Brown and the one about the Circus Clown. Das Baz, aka Erudil 18:50, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey, this is ridiculous, Tom Astor is a completely unknown German hillbilly country singer. MW9123 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.87.224.97 (talk) 14:59, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I swear I've heard versions where they said "James Brown" and another time, "Charlie Brown". Am I crazy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.157.193.129 (talk) 17:07, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics?[edit]

The article mentions an alternate set of lyrics, but fails to give either the original lyrica or teh alleged alternate lyrics. not sure what the point is having an article about a popular song and not including the lyrics -- it this case the absence makes the claim of an "alternate version" of questionable validity. How would we know, without seeing them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.253 (talk) 22:50, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
