Department store group incorrect[edit]

I have been investigating Gorringes department store in London, which according to this article was bought by Whiteleys. This is incorrect, there is no link other than a mention of files in the National archive page which also mentions RHO Hill of Blackpool and West And Moulton. It does not say they were owned by Whiteley. This was confirmed by the Thursday 21 September 1961 edition of the Daily Herald, which states: "William Whiteley, the Bayswater store, tumbled further to 40s. the breakdown take-over talks with bidder R. H. O. Hills". (BNA) The House of Fraser archive also has no mention on the RHO Hill page nor Hides, it's later owner. In addition Gorringes articles I can find has no mention of Whiteleys, and there is nothing mentioned in Selfridges, Harry's or the Provincial stores history either.Davidstewartharvey (talk) 13:04, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
