The List of banned books credits William Powell as the writer of The Anarchist Cookbook. Is this the same William Powell? -- Sam

Seems unlikely. We need some disambiguation. Deb 21:24, 29 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Willam Powell's characters were not cynical they were "gay". He had a twinkle in his eye. He took a relaxed gaze at things that normal people would fear. He dealt with hardship with wit not rue. Its just incorrect to call his characters cynical they had the stance of the "happy warrior" in cosmopolitan clothing. It was a much more sophisticated stance then cynicism.

Powell's role in The Last Command was pretty major. He plays the Revolutionary Director turned Hollywood Director who hires former Grand Duke Sergius Alexander (Emil Jannings) to be an extra in his film about the Russian Revolution.--Syd Henderson

I agree about a disambiguation for "William Powell." Both the actor and his son were William Powell. There is also a Negro League player named William H. Powell.--Ladydayelle

Someone needs to add references to his extensive radio career. Richard Diamond, Philo Vance etc. --Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.254.147.8 (talk) 14:13, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

The most or one of the most prolific pairings?

The Myrna Loy article say the most; here it says one of the most. Which is it? Clarityfiend 03:01, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

it is the most. They costarred in 14 films - more than any other "couple". I'll try to find a source for that. Rossrs 12:56, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

I vaguely recall that the Charles Francisco biography mentions this. It was one of the first things that I found out about them both since conventional wisdom was that Rogers and Astaire had the most pairings. I don't have a copy on hand. Sorry. Ladydayelle 14:29, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Alcohol

In view of the continuous references to alcohol in the Thin Man films, I wonder what Powell's experiences were with that substance.Lestrade 17:55, 2 May 2007 (UTC)Lestrade

Harlow

The recent addition of material about Jean Harlow is interesting, and very circumstantial -- what's the source? If "it is reported", there must be a reference available. Accounting4Taste 04:27, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Color picture

Life with Father is in the public domain, and it's in color. Would be a great source for a pic. Lionel (talk) 23:47, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
