Capitalization of "post office"[edit]

@GPinkerton: Please read MOS:INSTITUTIONS again. "Generic words for institutions, organizations, companies, etc., ... do not take capitals". "The university offers programs in arts and sciences" does not use capitals, even if it is obvious which university is being discussed. Same with "post office"; it is not "consistently capitalized in reliable generalist sources". No name is given for the post office; it's not "Calcutta Central Post Office" or anything like that. In that case, capitalization would be correct. Any dictionary shows "post office" as a generic term, except for "the Post Office" when referring to a government's institution for delivering letters. While we're in this article, "Commission" is also improperly capitalized. Let's get this cleaned up. Chris the speller yack 04:56, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Chris the speller: The building is Calcutta Post Office, a branch of the General Post Office (note capitalization), though as the article says, he died before he could complete the plans and General Post Office, Kolkata is the building as eventually built. It is not a generic post office. GPinkerton (talk) 05:07, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@GPinkerton: Since you know the name, why not just put the name in the article and capitalize it, instead if going back and forth trying to capitalize a generic term? While you're in there, you can also change "Mint" to lower case, along with "Commission". Chris the speller yack 05:18, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chris the speller: it is in the article. As I say, it's not a generic term. It's the Post Office. Like State Department. GPinkerton (talk) 05:33, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
