"The Cuthberts, Barons of Castlehill" (JGB Bulloch, 1908)p 14 indicates that he married "Mary, daughter of John Wemyss, parson of Rothes". Their daughter, Jean, married John Cuthbert of Castlehill, Inverness, and outlived their heir, who died in 1748. She was certainly alive in 1756, since along with her son, Alexander, she is engaged in an appeal to the House of Lords in that year. One of their grandsons, Seignelay, became Bishop of Rodez in France, and a delegate to the States General, where he is recorded by Arthur Young to have been one of the circle around the Abbe Sieyes. He was the first Bishop to go over to the Third Estate in 1789, and voted for the Declaration of the Rights of Man.Delahays (talk) 22:52, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
