Name[edit]

The image provided in the article clearly shows "Wii Startup Disc" rather than "Wii Startup Disk". To remain consistent, only "disc" should be used the article. Just64helpin 22:03, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion!?[edit]

This is a conglomerate of information of a future product. I mean, we have a wiki for The Phantom (game system), which is purely ficticious and based on speculation, but we can't have the Wii Startup Disk? —Shanesan (contribs) (Talk) 21:13, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention that the first paragraph is all fact, no fluff. We got the "history", and we got what the future could entail. Its not all speculation. —Shanesan (contribs) (Talk) 22:09, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Phantom got a ton of press and Infinity (the company making it) did a good job of making everyone think it would come out soon. It's bascially become vaporware, but it was real. TJ Spyke 03:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added an article about the component cables because it was such a good idea!! :)

This article is utterly useless. It does nothing but state that there will be a startup disc in the box, and the Wii article itself says that much. I really think that whoever proposed its deletion was right. DarthVader1219 19:51, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also support and/or propose deletion if the first proposition has been ignored. By now, via photographic evidence [1], it is clear that it is (surprise, surprise) a set-up disc. --Zooba 14:41, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And what, pry tell, does "Startup Disk" mean? —Shanesan (contribs) (Talk) 20:37, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It appears to be a Startup Disk designed to start up the Wii, via uploading firmware and helping users with the Wii Remote. There's nothing controversial about it, and even if there is it is certainly not worth a full page. Perhaps a subsection in the Wii article, yes. --Zooba 22:28, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It appears now that the system no longer comes with a startuo disc [2], making this page even more useless. TJ Spyke 20:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Making it more unverified, at least. It just adds fuel to the spam fire, and there's no reason to trust that site. Article = goner Scepia 20:16, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PGC IS reliable. They also confirmed they have the final system (GameSpot also gets the final system today as well). So if they say the final system doesn't come with a startup disc, then you can be sure it doesn't come with a startup disc. TJ Spyke 20:40, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK. GameSpot actually has live video streaming of them playing Wii. The page is not substantive, in any case. Scepia 21:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is the "Startup Disc"?[edit]

Recently removed from the main page, this is going to the talk page.

Speculation[edit]

Individuals believe that the Startup Disk could actually be

    • It's NOT Wii Sports. Nintendo has shown what the North American box (which is basically a cardboard sleeve like Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt came in). This page has no reason to exist anyways since this can be covered in 1 or 2 sentences on the Wii page. I will nominate it for deletion soon. TJ Spyke 03:34, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

I turned the article into a redirect to Wii, as it didn't need to be deleted, but indeed had no real content - just speculation from unverifiable sources, with only stub content. Scepia 04:50, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
