What about mentioning the Sack of Rome and Roman whores like Portrait of Lozana?

The Roman Catholic Church denies the claim that it is the being referred to by the Book of Revelation as the Whore of Babylon...

Am I the only one to find this statement comical? ;) I mean: it sounds like the RCC for a moment considered that possibility...

What about the possible (and most sensible) connection with Ishtar as the literal "Whore of Babylon"...or has this one passed everyone by??

United States as the Whore of Babylon

I think this part needs to be re-written. The citations do not completly support the content, and the voice is biased, it tends to agree with The US being the Whore. (Atleast in tone)

Rastafarian Refrence

The Whore of Babylon is a Christian image. The Rastafarian movement has not added any significant meaning to the image so much that the article has no other reference to the Rastafarians in it. So I've deleted the reference. Eikinkloster (talk) 04:31, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Protestant Reformation section

This section deserves a rewrite. It seems to be very biased against the Reformers - calling people "ignorant" for their beliefs in an article certainly doesn't seem nonbiased to me. Osakadensetsu (talk) 08:30, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

This section BADLY needs a rewrite. "There was a fairly long and exceedingly ignorant tradition of this kind of name-calling by opponents of the Papacy." Neutrality?

2 Bloodline theory

The most direct link to Babylon in modern life is the Babylonian Talmud, the Holy Book of the Jews, which was mostly written during the Jewish exile to Babylon. These Talmudic Jews returned to Israel after many of exile. Jesus had several high profile confrontations with the Pharisees, who were the New High Priests of Judaism, going to far as calling them the children of the Devil in John 8:44. It was these Pharisees who demanded that Jesus be put to death. The Roman's through Pontius Pilot washed their hands of the affair, but the Pharisees .

It was the ideology of Talmudic Judaism which killed Jesus, and all the Children of Israel who continue to practice Judaism are the seeds of Satan, because they are descended from the Pharisees whom, Jesus called the Children of Satan. Just like the Holiness of Abramham is passed through the bloodline so are Satanic Genes. All the real Jews, then began to follow Jesus, all of the Jews who remain today are the children of the Devil. The whore of babylon is modern Israel which practices Babylonian Judaism, and regards the Babylonian Talmud as its most Holy Book.

Rome is innocent, and so are the Children of Rome. Jesus forgave them on the Cross, saying in Luke 23:34 "Forgive them for they know not what they do." The Romans were not Jews so they did not know the prophesy which had come before, so they were the only ones there who did not know they were sacrificing the Son of God. The Jews knew exactly what they were doing, so they are the only ones who can carry guilt. If Rome is either the Whore or the Beast, Rome is currently Russia because banners of Rome passed from Rome to the Byzantines, After Constantinople fell to the Turks, the banners moved to Russia, which is why the Russians called their King "Czar" after Ceasar, the traditional title of Roman rulers. This is also why Russia used the double headed Eagle, a symbol of Rome, as their symbol up till the Communist Revolution, which was comprised mostly of Jews in the beginning stages of the Soviet Union, and it was a Jew "Karl Marx" who invented Communism. It could be argued that the banner of Rome passed to Germany after the collapse of old Russia, but Germany would have held the title of "King" for a very short time during the Nazi era. If they had passed to Germany, then we would currently be on our 5th "King" because the first would have been Rome. 2nd Byzantine, 3rd Russia, 4th Nazi Germany and 5th whoever picked up the banner from Germany. It could be the United States, Russia, Great Britian or perhaps some other country which now has the banners of Rome. The Banners in past times did not go the the people who defeated Rome, but stayed with the people who carried Rome abroad. The Eastern Roman Empire brought their civilization to Byzantium, the Byzantine brought their culture to Russia. Fleeing Russians might have brought their culture to Germany, the most brilliant minds of Germany were divided between the Russians and the Americans.

Of course there are good reasons to believe that Nazi Germany was not the new incarnation of Rome, in part at least because that is not the way they saw themselves, and unlike the Byzantines and Russian, they did not adopt the double-headed eagle as their symbol, instead opting for the Swastica and eagle with one head. If this is true, then Russia is still Rome because aside from the commies Russia has not been destroyed.

The beast is either the United States or the UN. The United States is a bastard country without a real Nationality, while the United Nations is an organization which was founded against the ideas of Nationalism. The US is currently more powerful than the UN, but if these 2 should merge or if either decides to attack Israel, the whore, then it is a certainy that whoever attacks Israel and destroys that Nation is the Beast, or the Anti-Christ. As Jesus came to bring eternal life to the jews, they killed him, like wise they became the Whore of Babylon which will be destroyed by the beast.

Introduction could be shortened without loosing any meaning

Change- The Whore of Babylon is one of several Christian allegorical figures of supreme evil mentioned in the Book of Revelation in the Bible. The Whore is associated with the Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation by connection with an equally allegorical kingdom.

The Whore's apocalyptic downfall is prophesied to take place in the hands of the beast with seven heads and ten horns. There is much speculation within all religious perspectives on what the Whore and Beast symbolize as well as the possible implications for contemporary interpretations.

To- The Whore of Babylon is a figure of evil described in the Bible's Book of Revelation. The Whore is associated with the Antichrist and the 7 headed, 10 horned Beast. The Whore will be destroyed by this beast. There is speculation within religious perspectives whether Revelation is literal or allegorical and there are many different symbolic interpretations.
