Images[edit]

Are the images in the Press Release in the public domain? They are being used by various news agencies? Trustcited (talk) 16:14, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not, I think the US is one of the few countries which releases its official images into the public domain. I will add a picture of the Russian carrier though - Dumelow (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Satellite photos are now available from EMSA. Their disclaimer authorises reproduction where acknowledged. Would these images add to the article? Do they meet WP usage guidelines?Trustcited (talk) 13:59, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion[edit]

I have recently expanded the article. I tried to keep in all the information that it included before the expansion but I may have inadvertently deleted some. If so please feel free to re-add it. Cheers - Dumelow (talk) 17:37, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your work. No major omissions that I can see. I will check back later as the story develops. Cheers Trustcited (talk) 17:45, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The present headings are not great, I just put them in as the text needed breaking up. If anyone has any better wordings for it again fell free to change them - Dumelow (talk) 18:09, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peacook and weas words[edit]

These type of words and terms should be avoided and this article contain an plenty of them.User:Yousaf465

Hi, the term that you tagged was picked up from the Irish coastguard report and has now been removed. I have read through the article and don't think I can see any more but if you can then please bring them to my attention. Thanks - Dumelow (talk) 08:23, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

crosspost: Is this related to the French-British sub collision ?[edit]

I am posting this to both discussions... the connection provides a better explanation for what the Russian Navy is doing running drills 50 mi off the emerald isle...? 72.0.187.239 (talk) 06:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

news headline[edit]

Just wondering. I thought that it was now officially called Britain and Ireland and not the British Isles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.43.211.56 (talk) 18:05, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there is an official name for the islands. It was originally Britain and Ireland on the main page headlines but was changed to British Isles for stylistic reasons. This article uses Great Britain and Ireland. More info can be found at British Isles naming dispute - Dumelow (talk) 20:00, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I originally phrased it to avoid "British Isles" and such complaints but unfortunately not everybody agreed... :( It's an awful pity that some of the complainants are IP addresses as they seem to have not quite the same amount of credit as users... --➨♀♂Candlewicke ST # :) 21:05, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great Britain, not just Britain please. Jolly Ω Janner 16:31, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are we all happy now over here? --➨♀♂Candlewicke ST # :) 21:03, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Erm... the source being used say "British Isles". --Jza84 |  Talk  01:25, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
