5x expanded by Bloom6132 (talk). Self-nominated at 00:30, 19 April 2022 (UTC).[reply]

  • Note that per the DYK guidelines, if an IAR exemption to the special occasions requirements is requested, it has to be done at WT:DYK rather than at the nomination page. This is to ensure that the wider DYK community can provide input rather than just a single reviewer. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 22:32, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Full review needed. The special occasion request can be dealt with after the review. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:42, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • 5x expansion verified and a QPQ has been done. No close paraphrasing found and the hook is cited inline and verified. As for the hook, it's okay but I think there are some better options in the article. Perhaps him having 7,777 career NBA points would make for a better DYK hook? That's a pretty catchy number. As for the special occasion request, I'd probably advise against it unfortunately because it was made way beyond the six-week requirement and the connection to the NBA Finals is tenuous at best, especially if we don't go with the original hook. In any case, the request is moot anyway since the NBA Playoffs are still ongoing and the hook would remain timely regardless on when it's promoted. • Disagree. 7,777 career NBA points may be catchy number, but it's trivial. Also, describing the special occasion request made a mere two days before the six-week requirement as "way beyond" is hyperbole at best. Not surprised you'd object to it given your initial comment. New review needed. —Bloom6132 (talk) 16:08, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know, the hook doesn't really make much for an interesting hook I think? I mean, he was a basketball player, so it's kinda assumed that he'd be tall and be able to shoot. Personally I still think the 7,777 number is catchy, and while it may seem trivial, it does seem eye-catching and could raise attention for the hook. I do apologize for saying "way beyond" earlier, I must have miscalculated the number of days at the time (though the nomination date was indeed still outside the six-week requirement and thus per the special occasions instructions an exemption should have still been requested at WT:DYK). @Narutolovehinata5: I see your point now. After doing further research on NBA career points leaders, it does appear that Cooper's career points total is the highest with all-repeating numbers (i.e. no player finished with 8,888, 9,999, etc.). How about this alternative:

Thank you for the new hook. However, the source you gave only seems to mention regular season points (I'm not sure if it includes playoff points or not). In which case, can the article and hook be clarified to say that it refers to regular season points? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:10, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Narutolovehinata5: I've added the distinction in the article (it does not include playoff points). But I personally don't think it is necessary, given that List of National Basketball Association annual scoring leaders and List of National Basketball Association career scoring leaders don't make the distinction in their titles. Including it may cause the hook to lose its interesting/eye-catching factor. —Bloom6132 (talk) 02:44, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Approving ALT1 only. As for the special occasion request, I will leave it to the promoter to decide. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 03:30, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
