dates 1947...1948[edit]

  • "winter of 1947"

does mean 1946/1947 or 1947/1948?

flood after this winter could therefore be in (spring) 1947 or 1948.

  • "replaced in 1948 by a temporary Bailey bridge"

but article Bailey Bridge (Walton on Trent) says that flood and erection of the first Bailey bridge have been both in 1947.

seems to need correction here or there.

I wrote the bridge article. The source for the date of erection was this local newspaper article which states "An original bridge was built in 1834, which lasted more than one hundred years before needing to be replaced by a temporary version - the Bailey bridge. Army Royal Engineers erected this on top of the old bridge in 1947. Flood damage had meant the engineers were called in to install the Bailey bridge after the severe winter of 1947." Happy to amend this if a more reliable source states 1948 - Dumelow (talk) 11:04, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
