Inclusion of HBP[edit]

As far as I can tell, HBP is not included in WHIP. The external link reference says BB+H. A quick check at baseball-reference.com indicates HBP is not included. 161.88.255.139 18:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WHIP vs. ERA[edit]

needs further explanation[edit]

The article says that WHIP is a better measure of effectiveness against batters than ERA. How is that so? Someone who gives up a home run every inning has half the WHIP as one who gives up two singles every inning. I would think the second pitcher is being more effective.
