Merge or disambiguation?[edit]

Should we merge the WQED-FM and WQED-TV articles into one WQED article (like the WGBH article), or should we keep them seperate and change the WQED article from a redirect to the TV station to a disambiguation page? (WQEX can remain seperate, as it isn't quite a public television station these days...) 24.61.119.222 16:15, 24 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

while it's never reason enough to do something simply because it's done at another article, this would probably work quite well for these two stations.

Isn't being a "community owned" station what being a PBS station is all about?[edit]

Thus making WQED the first "Public" "Broadcasting" "Station" in the world? Hholt01 01:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no, other entities can own a station and still have it be public, i.e. schools, governments, unions...

_[edit]

please don't change the article from WQED-TV, that is how tv stations in the usa are known. and don't link programs to neighbourhoods, it makes no sense.

One article vs. three[edit]

There is currently a disambiguation page titled WQED. Rather than having three articles (WQED, WQED-TV, WQED-FM), they could all be merged into WQED. The radio page is a stub, and the television page gives information about both. It would provide for easier navigation of the pages--Questions99 (talk) 16:17, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  Unable to review
Your edit request could not be reviewed because the request is not formatted correctly.

  1. The citation style predominantly used by the WQED (TV) article appears to be Citation Style 1. The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[a] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1. (See WP:CITEVAR.)
  2. Citation ref tags have not been placed within the requested text indicating which portions of the text the source is referencing. (See WP:INTEGRITY.)
  3. Directions have been placed in the request stating what needs to be changed. However, the proposed text needs to be phrased exactly how it will be placed in the article.

In the collapsed section below titled Request edit examples, I have illustrated two: The first shows how the edit request was submitted; the second shows how requests should be submitted in the future.

Request edit examples
INCORRECT

Change the Sun's diameter to 864,337.3 miles, currently is only says that it is 2,000 miles. And the Sun's temperature is wrong, recommend correcting it according to the following sources.

https://www.booksource.com
https://www.journalsource.com
https://www.websource.com

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the WQED (TV) article. Additionally, ref tags have not been placed within the text at the exact positions where the information they reference resides. Instead, directions were placed in the request about what to fix. Directions can be included, but you need to phrase the text as how it shall appear in the article. Using the correct style and the correct positioning of the ref tags, the proposed WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:

CORRECT

The Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles,<ref>{{cite book|last1=Sjöblad|first1=Tristan|title=The Sun|url=http://www.booksource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=1}}</ref> while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Harinath|first1=Prisha|title=Size of the Moon|journal=Science|issue=78|volume=51|url=http://www.journalsource.com|date=2020|page=46}}</ref> The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.<ref>{{cite book|last1=Uemura|first1=Shu|title=The Sun's Heat|url=http://www.websource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=2}}</ref>

Which displays as:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337.3 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc. Also, the ref tags are placed in the exact location where the text which they reference resides. Finally, the exact, verbatim text that is to be added to the article has been included with the request. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review.

Kindly write a new edit request so that it aligns more with the second example shown in the collapsed section above, and feel free to re-submit that edit request below this reply post at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards,  Spintendo  21:05, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

  1. ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.
