Does the town still exist?[edit]

I'd have thought since Kyrylenko said it had effectively ceased to exist, as he is governor of the oblast and thus probably has the authority decide if that's true or not, it would be fair to treat it that way in the article. There was a sentence added that said "media images show the town still exists and the statement was hyperbole", but I can't say I'm convinced by this. All that seems to be left according to the photos I've seen is empty shells of buildings, it's all in ruins. The entire population has seemingly evacuated and there is nothing to suggest that this is a functioning town, or anything more than a pile of bricks at this point. As things stand, it wouldn't be a functioning town any more than Pompeii is. I wouldn't past tense it yet, that seems a bit rash to me. But I would definitely agree that the local governor would be the go-to authority here. With respect to the hyperbole regarding the town's existence, the town still exists abd is under Russian control. Since the article is clearly inaccurate through bias, it should be corrected as soon as possible. Acorn897 (talk) 01:48, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The governor of Donetsk Oblast would be one of the Ukrainian authorities. Perhaps the town might not seem to exist for them after being occupied by the DPR, so they might not be the most authoritative source.

According to RT the Ukrainian army has been expelled from the town and it is under DPR or RF control.

More recent info on twitter indicates DPR in control there now so I edited main article. Recommend to search Twitter on Volnovakha for latest interesting news. I can't put the direct link to twitter's search here, that link is "a site registered on Wikipedia's blacklist or Wikimedia's global blacklist." Go figure.
