Birthplace?[edit]

Was he born in Chicago, IL or Minneapolis, MN???????????? This article appears to contradict itself. Was he born in Wayzata or Minneapolis? ColinKennedy 14:23, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the IMDb and German Wikipedia, which both give Minneapolis as the place of Vaughn's birth, I'm going to delete Wayzata. GilliamJF 17:00, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Info restored[edit]

We aren't people magazine, but there's certainly no use in ignoring the extensive media coverage related to Vaughn and Aniston, as it's obviously notable to Vaughn. As long as we clearly separate the facts from the rumors and say exactly who said what. It's also notable to the header, since it's been such a big part of the media coverage on Vaughn the past year - but I suppose the sentence in the header could be re-written. Mad Jack 15:26, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was just about to post and thank you for the well-researched citations, so I may as well do it here!
I appreciate and accept your point about including the rumored relationship in the article, as long as citations, as you have, confirm the fact of the mainstream press rumoring. Haaving it in the intro, though, makes it redundant, and elevates a rumor to one of the most important and notable things about his life. It's also a statement that's likely to be outdated quickly, so what do you say we compromise and mention it once in the "Personal life" section. Thanks again for all the great citations, and so quickly! -- Tenebrae 19:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"References" and "External links"[edit]

The reason I've changed "Web sites" (which isn't a Wikipedia subhead) to "References"/External links" comes from these sections of Wikipedia:Cite_sources, quoted verbatim below. (Please note in Item 2 below that the italics are theirs, and not inserted by me.) Thanks!

1)

Complete citations in a "References" section
Complete citations, also called "references," are collected at the end of the article under a ==References== heading. Under this heading, list the comprehensive reference information as a bulleted (*) list, one bullet per reference work.

2)

External links/Further reading
The ==External links== or ==Further reading== section is placed after the references section, and offers books, articles, and links to websites related to the topic that might be of interest to the reader, but which have not been used as sources for the article. Where there is a references section, editors may prefer to call the external links section "further reading," because the references section may also contain external links, and the further reading section may contain items that are not online.

So sources used to write an article go under "References", and other helpful citations go under "External links" if they're linkable and "Further reading" if they're not online. — Tenebrae 19:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, and I guess that makes sense for the intro, too. Being a member of Project WikiComics, can you tell which Marvel comic series villain my screen name comes? (sorry, off topic) Mad Jack 20:06, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

links to movies.[edit]

i m not wikipedia top user so i dont know how to do it, so someone else shoulkd, links to movies vaughn played it them, like dodgeball.

PLEASE get another photo[edit]

Just because some idiot with a cell phone actually saw Vince Vaughn doesn't make the photo worthy of this article. Get something from a production company, where his FACE is visible. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.14.72.182 (talk) 21:30, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

  • I completely agree on that. The photo is really bad.
Just replaced it. Hope the new one works better. Drewcifer3000 10:44, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Americans category?[edit]

What makes him a 'Canadian American'? Anchoress 05:16, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently his mother's Canadian birth makes him one... I've removed it. 24.193.49.117 02:07, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually he is now a Canadian citizen by law due to new Canadian citizenship laws that came into effect in April 2009. The designation 'Canadian American' now stands, as it is now entirely accurate.(75.69.241.91 (talk) 04:52, 16 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Weird Thumb[edit]

This article seems incomplete without some mention and/or photo of his weird right thumb. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.253.245.126 (talk) 20:07, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vince looks part black...he has some skeletons in the closet. he looks quadroon to me like he has black grandma. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.60.227.70 (talk) 15:25, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comedian[edit]

He is a comedic actor isn't he, not a comedian?Halbared (talk) 10:41, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was just coming here to say the same thing. Owen Wilson can be considered a comedian (I guess) because he has co-written several movies which were comedies, is this why Vaughn is also labelled a comedian? He did co-write The Break-Up I believe. James25402 (talk) 18:40, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Political Leanings[edit]

Why take out the fact that he has donated money to the Republican Party? There is clear precedent for celebrities to have their political leanings in their "personal life" section so why remove his? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.193.196.219 (talk) 02:26, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vaughn has been very discreet and is not known for being overtly political, so if he donates to Republican candidates, it is not particularly noteworthy, and more a private matter. Donations don't necessarily make Vaughn a Republican.(75.69.241.91 (talk) 17:47, 17 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Vince Vaughn has recently endorsed Ron Paul as president for 2012 and is hosting the Liberty Political Action conference tonight. (September 16 2011) --PlaystFreak (talk) 23:14, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Official website?[edit]

The "Official website" linked under Vince Vaughn#External links has a disclaimer which reads "vince-vaughn.com is a fansite and is not affiliated with Vince Vaughn." Probably makes sense to reword the link, unless someone knows something I don't. --Jimbojw (talk) 21:53, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Death date in infobox[edit]

On September 11, 2010, two edits were made which stated that Vince Vaughn died on July 30, 2008, something which is obviously false. The edits are this one and this one. It stayed in there until yesterday, October 22, when I removed it. If it were to show up on the viewed version of the article, it probably would have been removed earlier. It probably didn't show up due to formatting and code discrepancies. I just thought that any interested party should be notified about that crooked edit and how long it stayed there. Happy editing. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 19:13, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just saw it myself -- I was about to revert, but it looks like it's already been fixed. Vince Vaughn isn't dead, from food poisoning, Jetski accident, or cliff-diving in New Zealand (which I believe has been attributed to Tom Hanks, among others). Guys, check your facts before changing information about a public personality!207.6.147.86 (talk) 14:57, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"male doula" redirects here?[edit]

I searched male doula and for absolutely no reason, was redirected to vince vaugn. There is absolutely no reason for this. He is not a doula. The word "doula" is not in the article once. I suspect this is some kind of vandalism. Someone please remove the redirect. 67.180.25.141 (talk) 21:32, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vincent[edit]

Hi - Has anyone got a wp:rs that supports birth name Vincent - I can't find one. Govindaharihari (talk) 20:44, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nor for a middle name. Need to watch for this, some editors make a habit of adding what they think is a full name for a perceived nickname and middle names from unreliable unstated sources. Some people actually do get named with what looks like a nickname. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:00, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Govindaharihari and Geraldo Perez: I just re-added it with a citation and I have two more links in my first response here. It took a bit of Google Fu: I Googled "Vince Vaughn" "full name" and, going on Google's big suggestion that it's "Vincent Anthony Vaughn," I Googled "Vince" "Anthony Vaughn" and unearthed CBS and TV Guide on the first page of results and Playboy on the third. CityOfSilver 17:45, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And for that matter, I'm actually just going to paste my reply from my talk here since this is a better location for this discussion.
I don't have the context but I assume this is regarding Vince Vaughn's full name. Here's CBS News, TV Guide and Playboy all saying his full name is Vincent Anthony Vaughn. But it seems like you might be concerned about my behavior, and that's fair. I can explain myself. Unless a pending edit at a BLP is obviously harmless, it has to be either sourced or summarized or I revert it. Period. I know this is an unusually harsh standard but it's in accordance with policy and if the pending backlog is ever looking too long, you'll have a much easier time clearing it if you compel new and/or anonymous users to cite or explain their edits.

"shook hands with Trump"[edit]

I removed this addition per WP:DUE. Trivial incident, about as meaningful as "movie stars are just like us!" with a photo of one in a grocery store. Even the source said some tweets criticized, some supported, and some were neutral. Schazjmd (talk) 21:38, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 5 September 2020[edit]

Please remove from Personal Life section: "On June 10, 2018, Vaughn was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and resisting arrest in Manhattan Beach, California after failing a sobriety test at a police checkpoint. In May 2019, Vaughn was convicted of a reduced charge of reckless driving after he entered into a no contest plea and sentenced to 3 years' probation and ordered to undergo a three-month alcohol abuse program." as this contains false/misleading information backed by inaccurate sources. Lando244 (talk) 01:01, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now. Can you explain why it's false or misleading or why the sources are inaccurate? Do you have other source(s) that contradict this? –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 01:43, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
