GA Re-Review and In-line citations[edit]

Members of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles are in the process of doing a re-review of current Good Article listings to ensure compliance with the standards of the Good Article Criteria. (Discussion of the changes and re-review can be found here). A significant change to the GA criteria is the mandatory use of some sort of in-line citation (In accordance to WP:CITE) to be used in order for an article to pass the verification and reference criteria. Currently this article does not include in-line citations. It is recommended that the article's editors take a look at the inclusion of in-line citations as well as how the article stacks up against the rest of the Good Article criteria. GA reviewers will give you at least a week's time from the date of this notice to work on the in-line citations before doing a full re-review and deciding if the article still merits being considered a Good Article or would need to be de-listed. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us on the Good Article project talk page or you may contact me personally. On behalf of the Good Articles Project, I want to thank you for all the time and effort that you have put into working on this article and improving the overall quality of the Wikipedia project. Inline citations have been added. If there are specific things a reviewer would like an inline citation for, I would appreciate specific comments. Mak (talk) 19:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment[edit]

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Venus and Adonis (opera)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

This article has undergone a reassessment as part of the GA sweeps performed by the Good Article Project Quality taskforce in order to ensure that it still meets the requirements for Good Article status.

At this point, I believe that there are significant problems with the article relating to breadth of coverage. I looked through other opera-related GAs, and I see that they include such sections as "Synopsis" and "Performance history". These are absent from this article. I am particularly concerned that the article does not include a summary of the opera. Currently, the article gives minimal information, much of which violated WP:LEAD because it is placed in the lead section and is not found elsewhere in the article.

I feel that it would take quite a bit of effort to bring this article up to the current GA standards. However, the goal of any Good Article reassessment should be to help improve the quality of the article, so I will place this on hold for one week to see how much progress can be made in that time. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 01:41, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A week has passed, and the synopsis is still incomplete. No information about performance history has been added, and much of the information is still present only in the lead (and could stand to be expanded). I am delisting the article, but I hope that people will continue to work on it and nominate it at WP:GAN again when these concerns have been addressed. The New Grove and "Masque"[edit]

I am currently working on a basic research for the university about this masque and had access to The New Grove. What I read there was: "his masque Venus and Adonis was performed at court[...]" (vol.3 - page 719, 2001).

Though I haven't read every reference about the masque, it seems clear to me that The New Grove doesn't create a "versus" situation when it comes to comparing with other sources (as it happens in the current version). Miguel Maduro-Dias (talk) 17:49, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
