Suggestion to merge this article with the one for valeric acid

Valerate is not a substance, only the ion formed by the deprotonation of valeric acid. As such, the value of a separate article is limited and is not how many other organic acids are treated (for example citric acid and citrate, hexanoic acid and hexanoate). A discussion is underway at WT:WikiProject_Chemicals#Carboxylic_acids_vs_carboxylate_anion/esters suggesting that this and similar articles be merged with their parent acid, leaving this page as a re-direct: please comment there if you have views on this proposal.
