Merger proposal[edit]

Proposal: merge articles University of Qatar and Qatar University, same subject and overlapping content. Chuckiesdad/Talk/Contribs 05:39, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"University of Qatar" is an out-of-date page, which reflects the name of the institution under a previous administrative structure. Much of the content also appears inaccurate and/or improperly cited. That page would be best be automatically forwarded to the more accurate "Qatar University", with further updates occurring there.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mshulmanqu (talkcontribs) 06:02, 2009-03-08

  • Merger can be done in either direction, if one title is better than the other. The Qatar University University of Qatar article has a long history, multiple contributors, and includes statistics from 2009, so I'm sure there's some value there. If you see inaccuracies, the best approach is to correct them and integrate the new information. See WP:MERGE for guidelines on merging articles. • I agree, however, the title itself is an inaccuracy, as the "University of Qatar" as a legal entity no longer exists. "Qatar University" should be the name, to distinguish the change. When someone can find an appropriate source detailing how this was done, it would be a good thing to add. Also please note: the 2009 statistic is not cited.

I think it would be best to forward the "University of Qatar" entry to "Qatar University"Mshulmanqu (talk) 10:22, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
