Fatalities[edit]

The article says that the force has suffered 176 military fatalities. It'd be useful to note in generalities how these came about. Were UN soldiers actually shot by either side, or by civilians? Or were they all in accidents? --Delirium 21:48, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Content missing[edit]

The "Background" section only begins in 1995. What happened between 1963 and 1995? 68.146.72.113 (talk) 19:42, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion[edit]

Evening folks! Having just returned from a two-month detachment to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus where I learned a great deal about UN operations on the island and spent time in the Buffer Zone, I'd like to propose a merger of United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus with United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus. This is because the two articles are both relatively short, start class, and duplicate a lot of information between them. I would suggest the resulting article be structured with sections covering operations before 1974, the buffer zone and current operations. Suggestions are very welcome! Well, as 10 days have gone by with no opposition to my proposal, I'm going to go ahead and execute the merge. I hasten to add I fully expect the articles will be split again at a later date, once the resulting article has been cleaned up, updated and expanded, with the Buffer Zone section sufficiently large to stand on its own properly. The buffer zone section has now been expanded and otherwise tidied, so I've moved it back out to its original article. SalopianJames (talk) 14:18, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
