Tree rat: origin and usage[edit]

It'd be interesting to see some information on the origin and usage of the term, rather than a simple redirect (and I think "tree rat" is used for all squirrels).

I can't imagine people coming to this page don't know that "tree rat" refers to squirrels. Either testing to see if it works or looking for actual information more likely.

Unlike "tummy bird," which I alone use for pigeons, "tree rat" is fairly widespread.

Actually, a general page on insulting/affectionate names for animals would be interesting too. I've heard house sparrows called "feathered rats," also think there was a Simpsons episode where the term was applied to pigeons. Surely there must be enough information on such names to make an article. And "tree rat" is likely the most common of them. --71.192.116.13 23:59, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
