Article name[edit]

Treasury or Treasure of Atreus? I am familiar with the naming "Treasury" but have not seen it referred to as the treasure of Atreus. I think this may be a mistranslation from the commonly encountered Greek "Θησαυρός του Ατρέα" which literally translates to Treasury of Atreus. Anyone else have an opinion? I am not technically wikiliterate enough to make the name change myself whatever the outcome. --5telios 13:42, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date[edit]

So, was it built c 1250 or in the 16th C BCE? The first 2 paragraphs have both assertions. Albiart (talk) 18:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the same Question I would ask also when I come to this side -- Hartmann Schedel (talk) 15:04, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Checking the three external links and one reference source, all give the same date of the middle of the thirteenth century BCE, so I'm removing the second date from the article. The2crowrox (talk) 18:52, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Structure[edit]

The article could use some more information in regards to the structure of the building. There is nothing mentioning the relieving triangle above the lintel, which is included to funnel the weight/pressure of the building off the lintel and into the sides of the structure. --RobertTidona (talk) 05:56, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have problems with the first paragraph stating it was built ca. 1250 BC but then the very next paragraph stating it was built in the 16th Century BC. Can't very well be both!! A general online search suggests it was built somewhere between 1350 & 1250 BC... which dates argue that it could well be Atreus' Tomb, since Agamemnon saw Troy's fall, 1180 BC well after the tomb was built.
