The List[edit]

Seeing how this organization's membership is highly dependent on the list, and how the list is substantially different from any other such list, I believe it is beneficial to have the list included in this article. Please discuss if you have any reservations. Truther2012 (talk) 13:18, 23 July 2013 (UTC) @Truther2012: What is the best way to include the list on this page? Link to the club's web page that holds this?--joann94024 (talk) 23:50, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I've included a non-for-profit Infobox on the page, which seems to serve the purpose, while, I'm not sure whether the Club is "for" or "non-for-profit". Please correct if needed. Also, if anyone has access to properly copyrighted image of the club's logo, please include. Truther2012 (talk) 13:35, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

John Clouse[edit]

I commented out John Clouse' claim of "Most Traveled Man" as I can't seem to find such category on Guinness World Records. Original claim referred to TCC website which is insufficient. Please provide a link to a proper source prior to restoring.Truther2012 (talk) 20:24, 25 July 2013 (UTC) Guinness dropped the category some time later so it no longer exists. Mr. Veley[edit]

There is no need for mr. Veley to get recognition through the Guinness Book of Records or any other external sources. Recognition by TCC is enough. Please stop your changes, I will from now on regard them as vandalism. The Banner talk 15:35, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Veley's record is recognized by TCC for the purposes of his membership in the organization. That's what important for THIS article. Whether or not it is recognized by "world bodies" is a matter of controversy, hence the entry in the "Controversy" section. Which part of this that you (anonymous editor) disagree with? --Truther2012 (talk) 15:21, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ref improve tags[edit]

@The Banner: Do you mind elaborating on the ref improve tags you just slapped on this article out of nowhere? How exactly do Guiness Book of Records, San Francisco Chronicle and Post Media "closely-related" to the Travelers' Century Club?--Truther2012 (talk) 15:15, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The San Francisco Chronical and the Post Media are indeed not closely related to TCC. But at present sources 1, 3, 4 and 5 are primary sources. The Banner talk 15:40, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ow, the claim of Mr Veley is also dubious and the given Herald source dead. The Banner talk 15:40, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@The Banner: Additional citations have been added. Can the improve tags alert be removed? If not, please specifiy specifically what is needed. When referring to club rules, is not the best source the club itself?--joann94024 (talk) 23:11, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, absolutely not. What we need are independent reliable sources conform WP:RS. Not sources supplied by the club itself or related sources. You have now turned the article in an advertisement. The Banner talk 11:08, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@The Banner: Additional citations have been added, as you requested. How does trying to compile with your request turn it into an advertisement? Please specifiy, with examples of where you see an issue, what you believe is needed as none of the additional sources are from the club itself or related sources and include public radio and multiple citations from major city news organizations. The material at this point is reaching an over citated point. The citations comply with Wikipedia standards. Please remember WP:DNB--joann94024 (talk) 12:02, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
