Which team controls the PDL history?[edit]

Should the 2016 to 2018 season info be on this page or the first team page? As in, is the USL League One team the same team as was in PDL, meaning the USL League Two team is a new entity and should not include the PDL season info? Or is the USL League One team the new entity and the USL League Two team is the same as the one in PDL? ColeTrain4EVER (talk) 15:50, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was unsure about what the case is so I put both just in case. It was unclear in my research. In this press release from the team, they say both. On one hand they say the first team played in the PDL/USL2 and is now moving to USL1 and that FC2 will serve as a link to the first; but in the same article they say they are re-branding the PDL/USL2 team to FC2, which would make them the continuation. It's almost like the best explanation is the team split into two teams and both teams are the continuation. RedPatchBoy (talk) 16:01, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Could treat it as a fork in the road type situation? As in the PDL history is the same for both teams but in 2019 one way goes into League One while the other continues in the PDL. I think another thing to consider is that Tormenta 2 took part in the U.S. Open Cup in 2019. To do this, it needed to qualify based on it's 2018 league results meaning it took the history of Tormenta PDL (new teams are ineligible for the Open Cup if they aren't professional). This is kind of tricky when it comes to founding date as well (which I just added with the re-branding press release as a cite). ColeTrain4EVER (talk) 16:18, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think the fork in the road is the best explanation. I noticed that as well with the US Open Cup that they participated, but an "expansion team" could not have qualified, signifying the continuation. It is definitely an interesting situation, lots of ambiguity. RedPatchBoy (talk) 16:22, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe include a note in the year-by-year table or history section stating "For simplicity, Tormenta 2 began with the 2019 season. However, the history of the PDL team between 2016 and 2018 is shared between both the first and reserve teams." ColeTrain4EVER (talk) 16:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That seems like a good option and would explain why the information is duplicated in both articles. RedPatchBoy (talk) 16:37, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
