Life outside bridge[edit]

The current structure doesn't work: a long rambling section 0 that is all about bridge, and a short section 1 "Life outside bridge". Life should follow a short lead and it cannot avoid bridge. --P64 (talk) 18:47, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Identity[edit]

Priday is not identified by the Library of Congress (no LCCN), hence not at WorldCat (no auto-generated homepage, as we link in the footer of most English-language writer biographies). Nor at VIAF (search 'priday').

Direct searches evidently hit no records of works by Priday.

I don't know that he wrote anything but the Sunday Telegraph weekly(?) column we mention. FWIW, at least one WorldCat library has catalogued The Spectator bridge columns by Susanna Gross (Talk:Susanna Gross#The Spectator).

Yes, the Sunday Telegraph column was weekly. I'm not aware of his having written anything else either. Regarding the query as to when the survey of 23 leading British players was carried out, I assume that it was done by Hasenson for inclusion in his book as I don't think he gives any other source for it. His death[edit]

I was sad to see that Tony Priday has died, though he had a pretty good innings. The obituary article cited for his death uses our Wikipedia article almost word for word, which I take as a compliment. (I mention it in case someone comes along in future and thinks that we have plagiarised them rather than vice versa.) JH (talk page) 08:49, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've now replaced the link to that obituary article with one to a better obit by Richard Fleet that's now up on the EBU's website. There's probably a lot of info there that we can use to expand our own article. JH (talk page) 17:52, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
