Picture[edit]

I don't think the main pic should be of one of Tony's music albums since he devotes more time to his acting than to his music career. TV Career[edit]

I personally think the section on his Hong Kong TV career should be expanded. He was the star of the fantastic serial "Police Cadet" and the serial adoption of Jin Yong's "Heavenly Sword, Dragon Sabre" and "Duke of Mt Deer". Those early works show a happy go-lucky extroverted Tony Leung in contrast to his serious introverted roles in the past decade or so. 66.171.76.140 05:33, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Leung had a reputation for becoming romantically involved with his female co-stars Kitty Lai and Margie Tsang included so a list of female co-stars has some bearing on his life.KTo288 22:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]


BLP concerns[edit]

There appears to be contentious information about personal relationships, some of which is even identified within the article as unproven "rumors", especially in the section Relationship with Carina Lau. Surname on top[edit]

Why is it necessary that we insert Leung's surname on the top? I happen to have the same one, but I do not find this very useful. Other Chinese celebrity articles that used to have it, now don't. ★Dasani★ 10:18, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because many English-speaking readers wouldn't know which name was the surname. This is an English-language encyclopedia, and a large number of readers are used to the surname being last, not first, and certainly not in the middle. - Fayenatic (talk) 17:49, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name?[edit]

Should be 7 times, including 2 supporting. Unless you specify it's 5 best actor awards. I'm not familiar with how to edit wiki, so can somebody change that.

This statement seems obviously false (or at least, unprovable, unencylopedic and unsourced). However, it has been added multiple times (apparently by two different Hong Kong-based users), and I do not wish to continue an edit war. This claims do not seem serious enough to involve BLP noticeboard, but I'm not sure what else to do. As many people will be visiting this article after the recent Marvel movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, it will be very misleading to leave the article in this state, and this user (or possibly users) seem intent to keep it this way.

Clean up, corrections, adding new info[edit]

I've done considerable rewrites in the film career section and fixed a lot of info in other sections. There were many inaccuracies and still can use some clean up.
I try to note citations for everything I add or correct and I'm happy to discuss anything I've changed.


Some notes:
Deleted the line that says "Some consider Leung's role in director John Woo's 1992 action film Hard Boiled, in which he co-starred with Chow Yun-fat, to be his breakthrough role." Neither references say anything about this being his breakthrough, and one mentions a few of his earlier works. The references cited:

Simplified the Tiananmen sq quote to simply say that he responded that he was misquoted. Embellishments removed:
"Under constant political pressure and boycott threats" - no boycott or threats mentioned at all in referenced articles.
"and thus refused to retract his earlier statement in a magazine, a view echoed by other pundits" - an indirect conclusion, plus who are the pundits and what view are they echoing - Leung's or the magazine's? The articles don't talk about echoing any view.
Just stick to the facts. Also I'm not sure this belongs in film career, but don't know where else to move it.
