Two questions come to mind:

  1. Presumably i is the inclination difference between the perturbed and larger bodies?
  2. The value of 3 is used to distinguish asteroids from certain comets, but how is the distinguishing done? Do the comets have parameter less than or more than 3?

Yes for the inclination; please bear with this stub, I needed it for TNO and hope to extend it in the near future... Yes, 'most' comets have the parameter between 2 and 3. Deuar, could you please help me with the article's title? Initially, without realising, I used some strange code for the apostrophe. Then I panicked and moved it to standard ' but the link in Tisserand's Criterion is not working. Could you please have a look and fix it? Thank you!Eurocommuter 18:36, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eurocommuter! :-) Thanks. This name thing is pretty pecuiliar. No fix yet, but i'm still looking into it... Deuar 19:26, 17 July 2006 (UTC) Got it! those bugs can be pretty sneaky... Deuar 19:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why the link?[edit]

The link to "David Jewitt page" in "External Links" is obscure. This page doesn't seem to elucidate the subject; I'd suggest it be dropped.

I suppose you clicked on 'page' and not on David Jewitt? But I have to agree. Internet resources appear rare. I’m extending slowly the articles on 3-body problem simple, useful results (Jacobi integral, Tisserand's relation, necessary for TNO and irregulars satellites in particular. But the critical mass is not there, yet. Eurocommuter 17:33, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge ?[edit]

Shouldn't this article be merged with Tisserand's relation which extensively explains the origin of the parameter?

Yes.—RJH (talk) 23:28, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Besides, why does the formula use here and merely there? Either expression must be wrong. Or it's late, i'm tired, and i don't know what i'm saying? MinnieRae (talk) 02:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
